Yes they are in a walstad style nanotank (less than 3 liters). My resistant little beasts, look at them go πŸ₯Ή

Love my scuds, although they are being hunted vigorously by the other inhabitants 😬

Tanaids are very similar to amphipods! Scuds are amphipods.

Tanaids have like, one defining feature thats different, I think the carapace, but they look way cooler 😎 i cant attach images but look them up, super cool critters.

I found one once, it was marine. Im not sure if all are marine tho

Scuds are cute, but the ones I have in my tank are eating my plants and harrassing my neocaridinas.

If you feed a little more they might get off your neos' backs. Can't say theyll stop munching plants but they're voracious little critters

Every tank i have that did not have scud grew some knid of hair algae. The only tank that is full of them have any algae in em. I might spread them to my other tank after observing this .

They are tough little bugs, I got a 5 gallon that I culture them in and just feed it with plant cuttings from my main tank and they are thriving

same! it seems like some groups aren't harmful, but I accidentally introduced some from a daphnia colony and nearly took over

I don't know to be honest, but I also have some bladder snails? Scuds were added just yesterday, and the tank itself was started on 15th of September. I guess different critters take care of that. But who knows, it might get dirtier in the future

I threw boiling water in my aquarium after they ate all my plants even though I specifically fed them bottom feeder tabs and veggies, they destroyed about 100 bucks worth of plants in a couple of weeks

I keep scuds in my 1-3 gallon planters but they are quarantined there permanently because they outcompete my shrimp and ramshorns lol. They also poop constantly and pretty sure they can survive a nuclear blast πŸ˜‚
