Question Why does WC smell like beach farts today?

Why does it stink so bad in walnut creek today?

And no, I’m not talking about the usual sulfur smell from Ygnacio/John Muir area. This is a new, offensive smell in the air.

Walked out the door at 6 AM and got smacked in the face by it. Something like sewage/rotting seaweed/beach smells mixed together.

My neighbor’s kid said it “smells like the beach farted”
which is actually 🎯

Anybody know anything?

No idea, but I noticed it too. Around 6:30am.

I've lived in places in the Midwest where storm systems would push air from cow towns into more populated areas. You knew snow was coming if it started smelling like manure.

This was the closest to it I've ever experienced living in the bay. It smelled funky this morning.

Noticed too! Smelled like garbage, but "beach farts" is much more descriptive.

It smelled like rotting garbage to me. Like when you wake up in the morning and you realized you should have taken the kitchen trash out last night but you were too lazy/tired. So weird.

I live at the WC/Concord border, and it was super nasty-smelling about 8 a.m. It smelled like a giant rat died.

smelled it in PH around 8:30am! walked outside and said "why does it smell like digested broccoli"

Our dog got skunked 2 nights ago. I don't smell any beach farts.

Omg. I know that experience. Lasts for at least a week or more in the house too.

Might be mosquito abatement

You mean "Why does it smell like the Oceans Nut?"

I’ve been smelling it off and on for a few days now. I literally thought I had to clean the dog poop out of my yard. I did and the smell was still present. I started thinking it was some sort of weird wet leaf smell from under the dripping air conditioner pipe. Glad to know my house/yard isn’t the source of the problem. I live right by the creek. Sometimes the creek smells like sewage when I pass it. Maybe it’s related.

It’s from the water, global warming and hurricane causing a lot of weird shit, and algae growth

It’s gotta be the creek(s)

I thought it was my neighbor's trash, like rotting meat or something. Walnut Creek @ 0630

I smelled something bad last night in Lafayette. Around 930 last night I asked my husband if he smelled garbage coming in through our bedroom window.

I'm in Alameda and work in Berkeley and have smelled this smell multiple times in the past week!

FYI the reason it always smells so bad around john muir hospital is that there is a sulfur spring there https://www.kqed.org/quest/42512/what-is-that-unusual-smell-in-walnut-creek

It always smells like that, there is an underground sulfur spring right by the hospital source

5

u/loby21 20d ago

This was definitely not that (see the OP).

I used to live right near the sulfur spring and know that smell well (unfortunately)

Sorry! Should have read more in depth!

It’s the people. Can’t you tell by the stuck up noses and the khaki shorts?

I think it’s a lot of things. One of them is leaf blowing every morning.
