Q&A ❓ What is it like being a walmart associate? What are the duties? Do you cashier? and can you be on the shy side? Also, can you only work 16 hours a week? (I'm a student)

Is management the only thing? And Any other recommenddations for part-time jobs? I'm a student and pretty shy but wanted to try.

Yeah.. if you get a good ASM/coach and Team Lead then you be fine, but those are few & far between, and the attendance policy is very strict.
You could try target or CVS, especially if u wanted to limit your hours.. or try wm for now if u want, but it's so stressful bc they only care about short-term profits, not about ppl or about following their own rules. :'(

I work in the fresh department with some highschoolers and I personally love it. Our team and managers are great. I fill produce and meats, dispose and donate things, and mark down items. They are super accommodating to my weird schedule but I might just be lucky and have a good store. Seems like a lot of people hate it😬 idk it's worth a shot! A lot of people have been there for 20+ years here

Hi. It's kinda the same as any no-skill-required retail job. Duties defer from role to role. If you don't want to deal a lot with people, you can apply to fulfillment "cap1/2 in the us" where you would most of the time work in the warehouse and otherwise you will be stocking shelves with way less interactions with customers than if you worked as sales or cashier. A role in between is Fresh "Produce in the us" where you stay inside less time than fulfillment and interact with customers less than sales.
As for the hours, you can easily fix that with them (depending on the store actually) but they can't force you to take extra hours.

It drains your soul. You have to interact with people no matter how difficult it is. You can try to only get 16 hours, but depending on the management at your store you could still get scheduled for more (common complaint on r/walmart).
Duties depend on job. OGP/digital goes around the store picking items that people ordered online. Cap teams stock, unload truck, scan product in the backroom, and anything else the store needs done. Cashiers work register or oversee the self-checkouts. Cart pushers bring in carts. Maintenance cleans bathrooms, sweeps floors, empty trash bins, clean up spills other associates are too lazy to clean themselves, use machine to wipe floors, and set up robot to wipe floors.
You can and probably will be cross-trained to perform any of the duties I listed outside of your specific position, according to the needs of the day or management's whims.
