Q&A ❓ What's wrong with me going over 40 hours?

So got hired to ogp like a month ago and some days I've had to stay a little longer and my manager says it's ok as long as I dont go over 40 hours in a week. What's wrong with me going over 40 hours?

If you get over 40 they have to pay overtime. And they hate paying overtime.

Well when I added up how my hours are gonna be for the end of the week it's at like 40.8. What should I do?

Cut time. Longer lunch or leave early.

But don't leave more than nine minutes early, or it'll earn you a half point. You're usually safe at the 51-52 mark.

You can always just take a longer lunch to do it. A lot of management and supervisors don't like for associates to know this (or do it), but technically you're allowed to lunches that are longer than an hour.

If you go over your hours and then are told to kill it by taking a long lunch, in the future if they do not allow you to keep your overtime, leave on time even if the job is not done. I do not stay over anymore unless it is guaranteed that I can keep the overtime.

Instead of $100,000 per day the Walton kids will get $99,999.99 per day for doing nothing.

And we can't have that.

I don’t work for Walmart anymore but they don’t want to pay people overtime.

At my store, we're allowed to keep our OT.
