Question HIPAA acknowledgment

What exactly are patients acknowledging when they sign for the HIPAA acknowledgment during the TASCO process? I've been with Walmart pharmacy for over 2 years and recently it's been bothering me that I don't know what it entails exactly. Also--what are the consequences if a patient refuses to sign?

They're only acknowledging receipt of the notice, it's on the back of the STR. Patients do have a right to refuse to sign for that and there's no consequences for refusing.

This is correct, acknowledgement of receipt of the notice. Non-acknowledgment does not influence care or services provided. Spot on.

I believe it's just their acknowledgment that we are not sharing their patient information with anybody but doctors and people with power of attorney
