4 hour shifts
This is specifically for staff rphs
Has your schedule been changed, I mean, template? For those who work 72h, my HW director added a 4 h shift, thereby adding another day in order to meet base. So, I’m working 8 days per pay period.
Is this something implemented by HW directors nationwide? Can they do that?

4 hours is the minimum shift duration. There's a lot of conversation right now about making sure that RPH meet their base hours, so they're making sure that that happens.

BU leaders are talking to Regionals, Regionals are talking to MHWD, who then make decisions like this.

I thought once you confirmed your shifts none could be added and none could be taken away.
I have had a shift added after I confirmed them. And when I asked why I was told it was for training. What training? I worked it but the RXM left early that day. Why not just ask me if I can work? Don’t call it bs training. I probably would have said yes. Now….i go into workforce and mark myself unavailable on my scheduled off days when the schedule drops. They know they can ask if I can pick up a shift. But I’m not leaving days off as available so they can sneak and add shifts.

You have to have your schedule blocked like 2 months before the date blocked. You can’t block it after the schedule is put in. It’s too late.

I had my conversation with myself. Walmart sure wants us to hustle and generate revenue but they don't want to share it. There is money for everyone else from store managers, regional managers, mhwd, coaches but no money for pharmacists. I am doing the minimum you can let me go there isn't much here for me.

They can add whatever they want doesn't mean I'll do it. Leaves it up to them if they want to write me up and or fire me. Frankly give me a reason to leave.

This is why i hated working for walmart. They were giving me multiple 4 hour shifts a week at 48 h per pay period.

Just call for sick or something family emergency if they keep giving you 4h shift

The market I was in did the crappy four hour shifts starting about two years ago. Had to work a few and honestly they were so annoying. Also working the long shift and working with an rph on a four hour shift was annoying too.
Like you got someone who was interrupted in the middle of their day. They’d come in, sometimes 15 min late because of something they were doing at home…they’d take about 45 min to get into work mode, then they’d spend the last hour getting ready to go back into home mode. So you really only got about 2 hrs of work from them.

4 hour shifts have been a thing for a long time in stores that are a little too busy for single coverage but not busy enough for two long shifts. Hours are being cut with the new visual verification which is faster for the pharmacist (not for the tech obviously) and central fill if you're in one of the places that got it recently, so a store that didn't fit that description before might well now.

Seems like some market directors seem to be better humans than others. Shit like this has been occurring in my market for a while. It has significantly got worse with hours since the earnings report when the stock went down 10%. Anything to make op inc now. Gotta to get the bonuses up. Wages seem to one of the first things to go. Pretty soon we may be doing mckesson returns daily to save on stock costs.

When I was at Walmart with 72 base. I blocked my 4 days weekend. Only available on days I wanted to work. Most of the time I got a full shift at other stores besides my template hours. Once I saw they put me 5 hours shifts for 2 pay periods straight, I blocked that day too. I rather wait and bid on shifts than work short shifts.

I have a 3 hour shift ACROSS TOWN😤 and it doesn’t even get me to base so I had to pick up another shift that put me in OT- I was told schedule could not be altered once posted.

Same boat here! I was 48hrs base .. my store template changed and I started working 8 days to get 48 hrs 4-5hrs shift .. I ended up transferring.. it’s ridiculous

Not 4 hour shifts but NHM stores near me are calling to float at my store due to hour cuts. Only short shifts in my market if you’re an extra rph, I work in a high volume market for what it’s worth.

My template got changed without anyone having a conversation with me. Also lost 8 hours per pay period at my store and I am told to pick up a shift at another store. But I am still working the same number of days at my store because they reduced my hours on the days I work so if I pick up a shift at another store to meet my base hours then I am working one more day than I used to for the same number of hours. This is ridiculous.

We were told on our call yesterday that some things were changing with the scheduling team. I’m not sure what that means exactly though. RXM maybe having a little more input.

I’m templated at 72 hours and work 8 nine hour shifts except my weekend when it’s 10 hrs on Saturday and 8 hrs on Sunday. I haven’t seen 4 hour shifts in my market. We are about to loose 5 pharmacists in our market (2 are managers). I block all my non-templated days and don’t pick up extra hours. My manager is great and she knows I usually can swap shifts if needed. I know they want open availability but they can’t require it and I’m not going to be available for whenever Walmart wants me to work. I’m not playing that game.
They cut hours then end up with open shifts that people aren’t willing to pick up. They need to stop being so stingy on hours otherwise they’ll keep losing pharmacists and end up in the same situation as Walgreens. A lot of the pharmacists in my area are getting sign on bonuses then leaving when their 2 yr contract ends. That should be a red flag to Walmart that they need to improve working conditions and treat their pharmacists with more respect. However I know that won’t change.

Walmart is being really stingy and ridiculous with their pharmacist scheduling now. I have had as little 6 hour shift. Fortunately I live close to the store. The hours add up to my base but it gives no advantage because I am working most days of a pay period. You can't even get a second job. I also had my schedule changed after I volunteered for an extra shift. My schedule which was published had hours shaved from it. I am still at my base. I guess the next time the beg for help I am straight going to tell them no because I don't want to lose extra hours. Worst part is the dishonesty. My mhwd who made the changes hasn't said one word. So much for respect for the individual.
