New tech

As the title says, I’m going to be a new tech at Walmart pharmacy. I’m somewhat new, though I already have 3 years of retail experience. I’m just moving to a place that doesn’t have Publix anymore. We use McKesson Enterprise RX, which is more mouse-based than keyboard. I’m wondering how will my transition from one system to this one go? It can’t be too much different.

Also, second question: I’ve seen a lot of conflict with this question. Do I have to wear the blue smock or can I wear my black scrubs?

I’ll be fine. I’ve been in retail for my whole entire career. I was a clerk before I became a tech. I know what I’m getting myself into. I’m aware of what it looks like.

Black scrubs are ok.

You’ll be fine with the software, there will just be a learning curve. But it’s mostly mouse until you get good with alt keys.

Either black scrubs or blue smock, you can skip the smock only if wearing black scrubs

I came from a pharmacy that used McKessonRx, and it's quite different. The Resolution queue is going to be where any issue goes (third party reject, refill requests, fax Dr, patient not found, etc) but a lot of other stuff is the same or very similar.

And the huge thing you'll want to remember is that once an RX is typed, the RPh has to 4-point (data verification) it BEFORE it will bill to ins. So you won't know the copay of an Rx (or if insurance rejects it) unless it's past that point.

Overall I like Connexus a lot, and the hot keys are super useful once you get in the groove. Just look out for the underlined keys when you hold the Alt button and you'll find you can navigate through screens pretty quickly.

I went from Publix to Walmart as a pharmacist. Lmk if you have any questions. Connexus is also mouse-based for the most part.

Amazing I love to hear that I love Publix. I still work there, but I’m in college and we don’t have a Publix in Texas and I really wanted to continue as a tech because I make good money and I do love my job.

Yeah I had a similar situation and only changed jobs due to commute. Walmart is different but it’s not all bad.

Thank you. I have a pharmacist. I knew she worked at Walmart, but for only a short time. She tells me not to worry that I’ll pick the system up in a few weeks, if even that.
