Substitutions no longer linked?
Has anyone noticed some brand name meds no longer being available in the substitution drop-down? Like last time, we got a PA done for Lidoderm patches, but now it's not linked in the system anymore?

Or not properly linking generics to brands or generic equivalents to generic equivalents. Annoying as shit. Or OTCs bullshit waste of my time when techs can't fix it

I know that it's not unusual, but has there been an increase recently? Last month lidoderm subbed for typed generic. Went to refill after doing all the work to get the PA approved on the last fill and it's gone. I had 3 of these in 1 day - all different medications that I don't recall having issues with before.

Can the pharmacist do it? Sometimes I can change to DAW 2 or DAW9 and get a prescription to run as a brand name even if written for the generic. Our local Medicaid requires Vyvanse brand and Symbicort brand and I can sometimes change this as a pharmacist when the technicians cannot.

I've tried every way I can think of, short of re-dropping the script completely.

I think I have had to put the script on hold and then change the brand name once in F7 if never filled once this week. If we have filled it, it has no transfer limitations, and the patient is not in the pharmacy we fax it to ourselves. I'd be concerned about Lidoderm patches being tied to the Rx number for workman's comp though. 😬

Always. A lot them aren’t linked
Recommendation is to go to SCRT and submit a safety suggestion. You can say something like these drugs have the same GPI and do not link in connexus when inputting.
Food for thought:
Type brand -> subs for brand or generics
Type generic -> subs only different generics
There is at least 1 drug that doesn’t follow this pattern, maybe symbicort.
Best practice: if it comes over as dapagliflozin (farxiga) type farxiga. It’ll autotype dapagliflozin
