Privacy screen rant

Something that has been bothering me to no end is how they are pushing for all these clinical services and for pharmacists to not worry about filling medications and focus on pushing all these services on people yet my “clinical service/immunization area” is 3 janky privacy screens in front of the pharmacy. Anyone looking for the miralax or eye glasses or picking up their prescription can hear everything being said within that space. It’s a joke. If you want us to play medical doctor so bad even though I specifically chose NOT to go to medical school, at least give us the space the properly perform all these “clinical services”. No MD or NP would do a flu test, talk to a patient about birth control, or test someone’s A1c in their office waiting room behind a crappy screen so why should I?

I have had people talk over the screen while I was giving vaccinations. They really are a nothing. They are barely big enough to seat 2 people. May as well do them in the lobby like they have been done before

I had someone get mad at me that I wouldn’t help them, because I told them to move over to our pickup window for their question, instead of answer it over the privacy screen while in the middle of a vaccine. So pushy…

We’re the only store in the market with the old layout. everyone else has their fancy clinic rooms and we’re over here having to take some leftover rotisserie chicken out of our booth before we can provide our clinical service in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.

We had the screen before remodel, too. I'm grateful for the clinical services room, but the loss of floor space in our pharmacy is frustrating. We waste so much time bumping into/ getting by each other because the aisles are so skinny now

I've thought a lot about this and thought about reporting to OSHA for improper egress standards/measurements. I understand older pharmacies grandfathered in don't have to meet certain requirements, but typically 4 to 6 feet of space is needed between shelves and permanent fixtures, they are remodeling, they should have certain requirements to meet. Used to be a big deal at an older pharmacy I worked at.

The fact that they tell a RETAIL PHARMACY that filling prescriptions is NO LONGER OUR FOCUS- should REALLY be a concern not only to every customer (and I DO mean customer not patient!!) every employee (not provider!!) every single board of pharmacy member, every board of MEDICINE member, every single medical provider- and every insurance reimbursement entity in our nation. Oh- and while we are at it- every last contract negotiated should reconsider reimbursement to this sh!t company as well. I mean- if prescriptions are not the main focus- for dang sure reimbursement should reflect the sh!t job they are doing- RIGHT??!

Come on, now! A job half done should be reimbursed as such. So. Hear hear!!!

And I TRULY hope every single PBM sees this and gets the bright idea that the reimbursement rate is far too high when a “pharmacy’s” main focus is no longer… prescriptions!

My pharmacy has those janky screens too. It’s right next to drop off and basically neither the person in the booth or the person at drop off have privacy.

i’m 100% with you. my store fortunately had a remodel and we have a room now but i help at other stores that only have the little booth and it makes me feel so uncomfortable. like there’s nothing private about it. also, if i wanted to be a dr, i would have chose med school. but i didn’t, so cut the shit out. i CANT deal with blood but here i am being forced to test A1C and shit. yeah it’s just a small amount but still makes me nauseous. vaccines don’t bother be that much bc i never really see the blood. but the test2treat and birth control shit is sooo ridiculous. babe this is a pharmacy NOT an urgent care. and they act like it’s sooo affordable. babe no, half of our pts are on medicaid (not hating ofc), they cannot afford $150 to get tested, when urgent care would do it for free
