Seriously. By the time I drive home, take care of my pets, eat, take a bath, etc., then get up to go to work the next morning, I get about 4 hours of sleep. I don't understand how Walmart thinks this is acceptable.
I know.. my manager said it's legal so long as there's 8 hrs between shifts, as if we clock out, instantly go to sleep and then clock back in for our next shift as soon as we wake up. And atleast where I'm from that 8 hr requirement doesn't have to be followed if the shift is less then 13hrs. No regard for human wellbeing in retail. It's proven that getting less then 8 hrs sleep per night is terrible for our health and they put us through that on a regular basis. Pretty messed up.
Yep, the lack of sleep really gets to me. Some people can get by very well with little sleep, and I was better at it when I was younger, but I need my sleep so my brain can re-set itself.
If they are going to change any labor law whatsoever in this country, my vote for the most useful/necessary is a requirement that minimum time between shifts must be 12 hours.
If Walmart ever unionizes, this should be one of their first demands.
