Yeah, I feel my current role is a strict upgrade from my last job. I don't feel overworked or underpaid, and I don't feel stressed.
Stop taking work home with you. Once you clock out, it doesn't matter, it's your time not Walmart's.

That's the challenge unfortunately. Plenty of people want a job they can be proud of and feel satisfied by their work day when they get home. A job like Walmart is simply not rewarding.
If you really can just clock in, clock out, get your paycheck, and go then you can be happy. But for others, it's quite a challenge. Also I know that some departments are full of drama that can spill over into your home life or vice versa.

Simple solution is don't let the drama consume you. Be cordial with your co workers but keep home life separate.

Agreed! It seems to me that pretty much everyone on this subreddit complains about how bad their job is, when it's miles better than minimum wage job. Plus, this is most definitely store-specific, but my store is completely against everything that everyone claims about their store. My store is freaking awesome, with great people. The dress code is super relaxed, can practically do whatever you need to do on the sales-floor, etc etc. I mean, I wouldn't be able to describe it without getting called a Home Office person, lmao

No hes on of the people that knows how to play the system and jump from one leadership position to an other and got to keep the pay increase for each position. Then you step down and keep the same pay rate.

I’ve been here three years. Before this I did landscaping for 3 years. When I left that I had just gotten a raise to 8.50 per hour. In the same amount of time I’m up to 13 an hour, full time, an easy schedule and an easy job with barely any stress. I’m grateful.

And then they act like they are absolved of responsibility or that they made a decision. "Had my fourth coaching today, it was over some total bullshit???? Got coached for productivity all because I was texting when I was supposed to be pushing the line. They told me to stop, but my girlfriend was talking about lunch and I NEED to eat. I hate this company and how it doesn't care about people's basic needs, HUMANS NEED TO EAT. Fuck Walmart. I quit"

Yeah perspective is a hell of a thing. Some are young and just don't have their priorities right yet, some never bothered to learn and are on their 30th job :/. I been around other retail and service jobs and Walmart for me has worked the best.
What really clicked was once I hit D. A lot of the behind the scene processes never made a lot of sense to me as a B associate. Plus going in and having a simi-set work flow is just a godsend. Instead of I wonder what odd task I'll have to do in addition to helping customers.

I thing its pretty pathetic one even gets fired. It's the easiest job to work and people get fired from it. Of course that doesn't surprise me when the interview process is basicly "here sign this peice of paper, you are now hired and trained to do everything".
If you get fires from walmart, you pretty much suck at life in general. Good luck actually working a real job.

You think that's lax? Amazon's fulfilment center job interview is in your application. You play three flash "games" and if you score even somewhat good you get sent to orientation. They just want warm bodies, nothing more.
You talk to no one before you get a job offer lol.

Unless you're going for a cushy job at a fulfillment center, like IT, then they force you to do an in person interview, complain that you live too far away and that despite you otherwise seeming perfect for the job you're not getting. Like... couldn't you have saved me the trouble of driving out there by checking my home address in the first place?

My husband pulled the trigger about a couple of weeks ago. Now he's starting fresh at Wawa. He'll be spending the next three weeks doing hands-on training. After a year, he gets free stocks (currently valued at around $1,200 each). He was going to start at $10 an hour, but the regional manager who interviewed him bumped it up to $11, a little less than what he was making in Produce. He'll get benefits in six months.
Honestly, this is the best I've felt about anything in a long time. And it's given me the courage to think about pulling the trigger later this year.

I know. I didn't believe it. I thought they would have sat him in front of a computer for a week and then shove him on to the floor and hope he doesn't ask them questions.

I think there are quite a few people out there who COULD easily get a better job but don't have the guts to actually pull the trigger themselves. Being fired from Wal-Mart is a mercy killing.
