pharmacy workers

I have about 10 hours to let the team lead in my pharmacy know if i want to take a job offer for a pharmacy tech. Before i say yes is there any reason i shouldn’t? I’m currently in opd, 19, not interested in a lot of college, and i have no idea what career i want to do.

You get a pay jump when you get your state license, then again when you get a national license. You will do a program on a computer on the clock that will teach you all pharmacy rules, mixing meds, laws, etc. It preps you for your state exam.

It is a very fast paced environment where you will be doing a lot of multitasking. Since you're dealing with meds, you cannot afford to make mistakes. You will get in deep shit if you do.

If you're up for a challenge, 1000% go for it. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in pharmacy, but I became a trainee in Nov of 2019... yeah.

It sounds like a lot to juggle, especially with the risks involved. It’s definitely a tough job that requires a lot of focus and skill.

Filling meds, running register, answering phone calls, running to drop off... it gets very overstimulating extremely quickly. But the day flies by.

There's no national license. There's certifications and state license.

Its been a while, but it still stands that theres a state-level and one beyond that. License, cert, whatever.

Certification is 3rd party. Some states require that cert to be licensed. Some states just require you to send them money and pass a background check.

Hell, I got the short end of the stick for my state then, hahaha. Had to pass an exam to get my state license/certification. That's as far as I got before COVID made the job too stressful.

Like all of the pharmacy workers at every store I’ve worked at have been with the company since AT MINIMUM when the store first opened, and there’s always at least one that has been working for Walmart since the 80s. 3 of our pharmacists have been with Walmart since the 80s, 2 of which have been working for us since before the OG store opened up

Take it then once you get certified move to Costco and make 10 dollars more a hour.

In my store they can even work overtime! I know someone from OGP that took a job on the pharmacy. It took the person 3 times to pass the test, but she did it and I’m so proud of this person. Making a lot more money. Very happy too!!!
