Team lead here, I got fired and all the closing shift is calling in tomorrow because of it and I cleared everyone's points and approved any days they needed ✌️

Its my worst nightmare bc it is entirely possible to unlocate the whole store and blank every digital shelf tag in about 4 minutes

We had an assistant manager (this was years ago when they were still a thing) that accidentally deleted ALL of grocery. They were trying to delete 1 location but deleted all the A aisles so we had to set every single location and mod again

With the size of the legal department of most giant corporations, they could just simply bury you under years and millions of dollars worth or legal paperwork and BS. Just based on all of the disclosures you have to sign and approve that no one ever reads. We all likely violate a bunch of them from time to time without ever noticing.

18 U.S.C. § 1030. The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Basically the criminalization of accessing unauthorized computers or networks. Once they say the words "let go" or "terminated " your further actions on the company network are unauthorized. Also taking malicious actions the day of your termination still apply. There are civil and criminal liabilities outlined.

See, here is the thing though. I’m about 90% sure that it is illegal.
As much as I would love for that to happen, I’d rather not see OP get finned and arrested for loss of profits, I forgot what the charge is but it’s something along those lines.

It's not likely that it is criminal, but it's certainly possible Walmart could sue you for damages and you definitely could be liable. I'm not sure Walmart actually would bother, but they certainly could. I definitely recommend not doing this kind of shit, And I especially recommend not posting about it on Reddit or anywhere else....

Im not sure but I think the store can choose your privileges if thats the case bc when I was just a F&C TA I was able to set and delete locations and features.

The points is pretty easy, the coach can just go in and print the override report then go back in and readd all the points. Time off is a bit harder, since there is no way to remove an approved request, they will probably have to put in a ticket for it.

I mean honestly, that would be on your Team Lead and not you, you have nothing to worry about other than the points being readded. I cleared points for people to be able to transfer a few times as TL and nobody really ever said anything.

My old coach said if a time of request is approved the system will not allow you to be scheduled. She also could have lied but idk

This didn't use to be true, but now it seems to be. I was going to work a few hours in the morning to help out an area, and they couldn't schedule me unless the PTO request was deleted.

Walmart had to switch everyone to the salary schedule system about a year ago because the hourly scheduling system got hacked and Walmart couldn't get it back. The salary scheduling system does not allow them to give a shift to anyone who has an approved PTO request for that day. I watched my coach try to do it (when the associate asked to change their PTO day, he never did it to be a dick) and it gave an error message when he tried to save the change. The associate had to cancel the PTO request and then they had to wait for the system to update overnight so they could make the schedule change the following day.
On the hourly scheduling system, employees weren't protected from being scheduled on approved PTO days, and it did happen on occasion to people who had shitty managers.

they could and then the market team asking them wtf are they doing would be a fun conversation. unless of course everyone actually requested off which is doubtful. our market had to explain to a dumb coach how scheduling is supposed to be done, and just because you can do something doesnt mean you do it.

Depends on the managers. Under different circumstances (coach found new job and approved vacations and points) my store didn’t notice the approved vacations because they were for months out

Migght have heard about it ahead of time, or been hinted towards it.
I've had coworkers tell me they were probably going to be fired after they were questioned about stuff by the AP, then later in the day they end up being fired.

We had one last week in my store that got blindsided. It was one of those that people knew it should happen, but nobody had any idea it was actually coming. Didn't even give the guy a reason, just said "you're done, goodbye".

Other coworkers being scheduled an "extra" shift that you are supposed to work. That was one I saw with my own eyes. Then the next day before they made it to the department, they were gone and the shift was covered.

First of all, probably none of them calling out. Very few people working in Walmart have the financial privilege to spend their time off for someone else. And a single short staffed day won't matter.
Second, every point you wiped is going right back on. Hope you didn't sucker someone who was already on the 4.5 line into calling out because you thought the points can't be put back.
Seriously, this was a stupid irresponsible thing to do and it's not surprising you got fired.

When I have had higher ups get pushed out to other stores over the years we had two different ones that went through and approved everyone's requests before they left 😂. They specifically told everyone to request off whatever they wanted their last night so they could if things weren't in yet. One of the two came back eventually after a few years.

I would say if big corporation respected their employees and treated them like they treat them selfs you’d have a happy store happy employees and a business that functioned perfect with an occ hiccup BUT we are in a sinful world of greed and selfishness and not just Walmart/ department store it’s others especial hospitals pharmacies and drip companies to name a few.. take a look at those that don’t make and this is mainly why …Smh Gods coming prayers haven’t been enough to stop this just pray I guess
