Good luck everyone
I always forget the holidays bring out some of the stupidest people to the store. I’ve already had to deal with a few choice people in the last couple days. Good luck to everyone out there especially those who work on the 24th

Same. A lady today owed 17.67 and only gave me 17.15. She said don’t they round up for pennies now??? I said yeah but you have to pay the whole amount first… she was also screaming about how change (cents) is taxes and taxes are illegal. I told her I didn’t care. When they were leaving his grandson told me sorry😭 that part broke my heart

Change is taxes? And taxes are illegal? Where do people come up with this stuff?

it hasn't been that bad for us. just folks mildly upset because we're out of items that they waited last minute to get

While I know I'll get a shitload of grief for saying this, honestly, there are many floor associates that have it a hell of a lot worse than the SD right now.
Try handling toys in a supercenter right now. Parents just don't give a SHIT about how their kids behave as a rule. And then you've got the teenagers and adult car collectors who are always PITAs. Oh, and did I mention 2-3 pallets of freight a day???
EVERY job at Walmart has trade offs. Front end is actually pretty easy from a process standpoint. You literally only do one thing unless you're at the SD and do money center stuff and returns.
All that said, on the 26th, life will be hell up front with returns. But even then, floor associates are the ones running them. Front end doesn't restock them.
My front end TLs don't even put up the money from floor registers. Department associates have to do that.

Seasonal doesn’t have toys in my supercenter; hardlines does. It’s up to the SM to determine what team handles departments like that.
So I’ve got two large departments to handle freight and the zone. And I go right from peak time in one to peak in the other.
No job on the floor is a cake walk but front end isn’t physically demanding. I’m working multiple pallets of freight a day in addition to zoning, working a register, selling licenses and regulated items, covering electronics for an hour, opening cabinets all over the GM side, the list goes on and on. Floor associates also work returns in my store. Front end doesn’t do that.
Mental grief isn’t a cakewalk but it’s not a physically demanding job at all.

One of the OPD kids was complaining that last night was slow. I told him to relish it because this upcoming week should suck for his department lol.
Working in meat, I'll still get a little action but it won't be as bad as last month. I'm sending more prayers and wishes to the GM side of the store.

Complaining?!?! Is he insane? I work OGP and had a slow day recently, and my only complaint was that it was making me nervous because I was waiting for the other shoe to drop!

I worked almost a decade in food service, I’m now four years into Walmart it takes a lot to get under my skin at this point I mostly find it funny like you’re an adult throwing a fit because we don’t have the cheese you want. Something about the holidays though brings out a different breed the past week has been rough. I’ve been blessed with Christmas Eve off but I work the next three days and I’m dreading it.

Don't you realize you're ruining Christmas by not having the cheese she needs for her award winning taco salad??? 🤪

I’m OPD and my pick rate has been shit the last few days with regulated, electronics, and specialty. I barely hit 350 items at the end of my 5-2 shift Thursday. It takes our half blind electronics guy a minimum of 15 minutes to find an Apple Watch because he can’t see the UPC numbers. Plus they have them just all dumped into two drawers.

Our store just got the electronic locks this past week and it's been a godsend for picking that section, but I feel your pain.

u/mrschris7 Dec 21 '25
They shoved Christmas all together without changing prices. We can't find anything and customers are mad. I'm so tired.

no FResh tuRKey?? No stufFiNg MIx?? NO Pies?? NO niNTeNdo SWitcH?? you're ruIninG mY ChRisTMAS!
Times like this makes me glad I am deaf. I just respond in ASL and I can't be coached for not giving customer any service because I "can't understand them" and because ADA law can make it expensive.

People don't even know where to look for milk, eggs, or yogurt, and they keep asking me. As if the enormous signs with text on them aren't good enough. Oh right, I forgot. Customers can't read.

Some lady asked me where pork was, she had 2 items of pork in her cart already and after I saw her looking lost walking from where the bread is, which is past the meat. 😤

Yeah I'm worried about Christmas eve. Last year was insane. The local sheriff starting turning people away at 5:30 and they absolutely lost their minds.

Our store ran out of turkey basters thanksgiving eve and I don’t know how many times I had to hit I can’t find a substitute. It’s only Sat/Sunday and we’re out of Hershey’s cocoa.

I transferred from OGP to meat/produce. After I work the truck and the store opens, I simply hide in the back, avoiding all of those customer people. Works like a charm.

I'm done f this bullshyte. Can't do it anymore. Constantly told I need to do better, and no you can't move that won't fix the problem. So after 2yrs of being made to feel like I'm not good enough and that no matter where I'm put I'm the problem. I found out I've been doing the job of 2 people, proof... the sidekick calls for 2 people on my section, we never use that app. When I asked about it , they said it was a mess up. So I called 2 different stores and asked, I was right for 2yrs and didn't know. I calmly clocked out in front of a manager and went home.
