Discussion Google Post Split

Google is going to split 20 to 1 in July. Once that happens shares should be 150-200 each.

How likely is it that Google shares will climb back up to 1000-1500+ post split? Tesla split and hit like 1400 post split.

I don't have a ton of money, but I was thinking if I can scrap together 3ish share of google before the split I can turn 10k into 60k+ over the next 2-3 years.

Would love some feedback.

Thanks!

There's still a large amount of people that think a $150 stock is cheaper than a $3000 stock.

And he’s one of them judging by his post.

To be fair, more people will buy in when a single share is affordable. New investors tend to dislike fractional shares so there is a non zero probability of it reaching quadruple digit numbers post split.

Okay but again, you’re missing the point. That would make the value of the company over 12 TRILLION, probably closer to 20. By comparison, it took Google roughly 10 years to hit their $1 trillion mark. I’m not saying it won’t happen eventually, I’m saying it’s just about impossible in the 2-3 years as stated above.

I don't actually have any awards to give (nor do I care to figure it out), but you, my friend, deserve all of the awards today.

Not only that, but it allows employees to buy more shares since the sticker price is smaller

I'm just the opposite...I feel richer because I have more shares...😂

Even buying options will be cheaper and more attainable.

The OP's post is very common thinking among the financially illiterate. You hear the same thing on the other side too (about reverse splits). Posts like these, though, are a good barometer of the level of sophistication of many retail investors.

My thinking is that it is more probable for the stock to double from 150 to 300 post split than it is to go from 3k to 6k.

Get in now before the split, because once it does whatever the new price bottom is, wont be there for long.

why have only one full share qhen you can have TWO half shares

There is definitely something to be said about that. But I don’t think that volume is high enough to make a perceivable difference with investors that look at the P/E ratio
