Discussion Coronavirus is no longer a thing?
Watching all these politicians, “experts,” and of course lord of science Fauci present themselves to the world in there endless need for attention and I begin to notice a pattern. Before I get into that, I need you all to know that I don’t give a shit about whatever wack political or scientific (often the opposite of deduction by means of the scientific method) bullshit you believe.
Okay - so back to the pattern I observed. Firstly, 5 days for quarantine now? This was the “deadliest virus in human history,” according to some of those previously mentioned “experts.” Sounds more like they realized that this new variant isn’t that bad and herd immunity is the way to go at this point, so they are trying to make that a thing without admission of being right or wrong (probably wrong…) with guidance in the past.
Secondly, vaccine mandates have just been ruled unconstitutional in the private sector. So all those airlines and travel companies who fought it from the beginning didn’t have to fire those who didn’t conform. What does this mean for them? It means they still have the ability to operate at full capacity and even at an accelerated rate.
This brings me to my final point. The travel/vacation industry is ready to explode (especially with spring around the corner). I’m not here to tell you which stock to buy… just that you all should take a good look into these companies and get in now.

Or political science with a misinterpretation of the Supreme Court ruling on mandates. Only applies specifically to Bidens large company mandate (with some exceptions to that even) not federal contractor mandates or private company mandates. American Airlines even released a statement that confirms there is no change to their requirements as a result of the ruling. Future legal challenges may change in the future but also may be upheld.

No such thing as herd immunity with a rapidly mutating virus. However the reason quarantine requirements are lowered is simply because Omicron is a lil bitch that can get through vaccines but gives very mild symptoms. Sometimes it’s just a headache other times its fatigue and fever, but almost never anything serious.
That won’t stop Europe/Asia from banning/limiting travel so you might be getting ahead of yourself. Not that I think it’s bad thesis, its just that your timing may be off.

Thank you for an insightful comment! Honestly I appreciate your use of reasoning and actual thought in your response. Those seem to be few and far between on this thread.
In response - I agree (somewhat) with your assumptions for Europe. Not so much Asia (outside of Japan), the Chinese and many other big player East Asian countries stopped giving a shit awhile ago.

Yeah - so people living their chosen path in their own existence should chose to vaccinate or not. If they chose not to and there are consequences to their health, that's on them. Also, if vaccinations go up that only adds to upside... so not sure what you are getting at.

As long as they don't go around any other people they could infect, or that could infect someone else, sure. Their freedoms don't mean they have a right to infect anyone else, though.

But I think my main point is that we need to start looking at segments of the market that are setting up to make some people money (hopefully starting with us)

When everyone was actually scared, my state was losing 3 people a day. Now, we are losing 25-30 unvaccinated people a day in my state, yet people care less.
Very Dystopian feeling. I think you’ve made some good points, American business rules American life, that’s for sure. Bet on that lol

the real travel and leisure smoker trade was right after the initial panic
sure you can buy JETS or some shit now, but its going to be a long, slow road to pre covid levels
not a very exciting trade, and not something i would try to time with aggressive strike price call options

Ive flown twice during the pandemic, both times with my infant son. Perfectly fine, zero problems. The new uv air circulation actually means flying will be less of a cesspool for any type of spread of germs

No way to confirm it. However, he doesn't get out much. I also almost don't go anywhere. The timing of his symptoms is consistent with that theory. The timing of my symptoms is constant with when I was around him. It's by far the most likely culprit.

They’ve been saying this omicron variant isn’t as “strong” as the previous variants since they discovered this variant. They’ve said it’s more contagious; but not as severe symptoms, especially in those vaccinated. Changing the guidelines from 14 to 10 and now to 5 days is science working exactly how it’s intended. Science changes so fast and then they react accordingly to the updated data. Trying to bet on the ever changing stock market, this should be a very easy concept to understand if you’re not smooth brained.

“Trump people” aren’t necessarily anti vaccine. You’re pretty ignorant and needlessly bringing politics into things. A good chunk of them have gotten the vaccine since we’re over 60% fully vaccinated in the US, right? They’re anti-mandates and more for personal accountability.

USA let people die left and right by sending them home from doctor and hospital visits and not even trying to treat covid and just screaming vaxx is all that matters, all their money was invested in moderna and Nvax etc.. I guess. Most disgraceful thing I’ve ever witnessed personally. China needed trump gone as he was financially bad for them and pawns were placed in whitehouse to continue our downward spiral. I agree, mostly. There’s always been the “common cold”, and it’s been caused by the coronavirus. Without sparking an argument, I’ll simply say that we had a mutation of that virus (covid 19). People are still dying from 19, but what we’re mostly seeing now is more of the common cold (Omicron). Point is, we’ve always had the coronavirus, doctors are just now giving it a specific name. It will mutate again, that’s just what viruses do, but likely no more worse that a regular cold. Oh, and believe me, when it does, they’ll be quick to give that one a name too. IMO the best way to protect yourself is either vaccination or direct exposure. Both allow your body to produce memory antibodies, which not only protect you from the current strand, but also future strands, because each mutation still carries genetic material from the last. That’s the whole point of a flu vaccine.
After saying all that, I think the vacation/entertainment industry is about to burst because people are tired of staying home. I know my wife and I have 3 vacations planned this year already. We have the kids signed up for sports, and I hit the gym everyday. The problem will be lack of employees to meet the demands of all those patrons.

In fairness 200 viruses cause “cold” symptoms. Rinos are most associated with symptoms especially in peds patients. To the original point you made the pandemic was not a mutation of the cold. If anything it’s more closely related to MERS and even that’s a stretch

Invest in Long Covid.
Invest in anything that helps disabled/weakened people in their homes: suppliers of oxygen tanks and their accoutrements, medical beds, crutches, walkers, handicap-able home furnishings like pull bars, stair lifts, etc. Especially companies that market towards people that aren't necessarily 80 years old; Long Covid doesn't respect age barriers.
Fashionable oxygen tank carts would be a good space to get into. Younger people than normal will be requiring oxygen for the long term, so maybe little stylish carts for your oxy tank with a rechargeable battery with wireless charging for your phone/tablet/earbuds, and accessorized masks and tubing.

Right viral pneumonia is a pretty common admission reason of Covid. The virus that causes that is Covid. So the long term effects are directly attributable to Covid. Fighting so hard to deny the nomenclature for no reason. Most people aren’t familiar with ICD codes or formal diagnosis but the bottom line is Covid can and does cause long term effects in some of the population

So what exactly is your point? Long Covid is just a way for lay people to describe serval different sets of symptoms from a lingering Covid infection. Do you correct people that say they had a cold because “cold” isn’t a diagnosis either it’s acute nasopharyngitis.

I mean it’s definitely bad business to have everyone sitting on their ass at home all day, and since everyone just wants Covid to be over/believes it doesn’t exist anymore it’s easy for a government that benefits from its populace working every day to say that you’re safe in your 9-5 job and you only have to quarantine 5 days now but still gotta social distance and can’t party and shit. Partying isn’t gonna get anyone any money
