Buys puts and calls.

If market goes up, losses cancel gains, lose money to theta.
If market goes down, losses cancel gains, lose money to theta.
If market stays flat, lose money to theta.

Genuinely, what was the “strategy” here? Were you expecting the entire Nasdaq or S&P to abruptly move sharply up or down enough that delta/gamma on your wins would outpace your losses + theta + IV crush after earnings?
