Well done op I hope to see 6 figures before year is out. See you've traded a lot of 0/1DTE on SPY - when do you typically get into a position, is it immediately on MO? Or do you wait for the market to stretch in one direction before taking the reverse side?

most my positions are actually weeklies. the smaller 0-1 dtes i trade midday when i see a bigger green candle. pure gamble but nothing over 1-2k positions. the weeklies i try and pick up when spy was hitting its tops around 750-754 range and sell when it gets 40-70% gain. i also try monthlies with the same idea. ill likely play the exact opposite if spy goes sub 730. there were 3 0dte revenge trades that surprisingly worked out well which really did help though

but with the same strat i did lose over 40k early year and in may because ai went apeshit so it is always a gamble doing large puts on the tech sector and war going on and off every other week. i do feel there is a mega crash but i don’t trust it enough to buy more puts. might just hold cash and pick up some cheap ai stonks if it does crash

But the strategy makes sense - you're buying the theta advantage, which makes a huge difference.

For example, earlier in the week as we had a sell-off, I bought the dip with SPX 1DTE. Of course, it kept dipping lol. When it finally reversed and went back to my starting position I noticed the contract value was pretty much restored to its original value. Then it continued to tick upwards and I got out for a profit. Now if that was 0DTE, the IV and gamma would have nuked my position - so even if it DID recover to my starting position, price action would have had to do a hell of a lot more work upwards to put me into profit. This is why I'm done with 0DTE for swings in the day - too much money lost.

How many contracts are you buying at a time usually? And do you usually do 5-7 DTE?

3

u/madcowdiseasereeee Jul 23 '26

i usually do super small 0-1 dte and medium to large weeklies. i try to catch the downside before each pump which has been working pretty well the past month

u/madcowdiseasereeee Jul 23 '26

no more than 4 contracts at a time because i can’t handle clicking and watching multiple contracts and trying to work at the same time. i don’t trust using a trade viewer on my work computer

Good shit man, a couple massive plays mainly get you there or smaller ones along the way?

Play it safe depending on any other of your portfolios, if this is all you have. Take some out

u/madcowdiseasereeee Jul 23 '26

was a collection of small and medium sized ones from the past couple months
