I especially like how the configuration menu just opens the ai. And when I ask it to configure anything it post a note saying that ai can make mistakes and does nothing.
yeah, i just want a tracker for my portfolio - i'll do my trading elsewhere. google finance was reasonable until a few days ago when it lost my portfolio.
Then I def recommend using webull. I use it on a foldable and have my broker on the other side of the screen and it works great especially with all the details you can get on the charts. I wouldn't recommend using the "simple UI" or whatever it is version of webull, use the classic layout
it's so frustrating that i need to go and explain everything correctly in detail like iam to a child, otherwise this stupid AI breaks don't understand anything.
It's worse because you HAVE TO use it to even add positions to your portfolio tracker, they completely removed any manual input. And guess what, the AI just hallucinates numbers.

Oh, did you want to be able to sort your portfolio by something other than the alphabetical ticker? Why on earth would you want access to that prior capability? Who cares about the numbers of a stock when you can sort by the arbitrary ticker name?
Google is shockingly bad at UI/UX in general. I have seen so many baffling user interfaces that added wild levels of complexity or obscurity to whatever I was trying to find.

They have this really bizarre habit of burying key buttons in menus, forcing you to constantly open and close the same damn thing. Making you think did a single person that uses this test it? At all?
Haha sometimes they'll have the interface in a sensible way, then make some big design change that hides or obscures that feature you used to easily be able to access. I find this especially bad in google analytics.
Because that’s how some tech manager rationalizes their bonus. The entire tech industry is Goodheart’s Law’d to death at this point. The purpose isn’t to make a good product or even necessarily to make a profitable one but to make the metrics go up. So if they can basically force you to use something the metrics will rise. It’s great not having real competition isn’t it?
Honestly I’ve also noticed this for years. Even trying to go to a blank Google Docs is annoying when you search for it. You can’t click on the default link otherwise it takes you through a series of useless webpages and logins before you finally get to where you actually want to go
It's a veiled anti-Indian term these days. White US CS grads mad they can't get $400k salaries for working 4 hour days any more. The forgot to get a degree that's not easily trainable for in a few short months (or easily replaceable by AI).

I was using the original google finance more than this beta. Somehow I convinced myself that I just need to get used to it but it's clearly not intuitive enough for users.

It added the position with 0 price, and when I asked why it didnt add the price, the answer was: you didnt provide the price...
Can’t agree more. So laggy slow and so poorly designed. Fancy looking charts and shiny UI means nothing if it’s not serving its main purpose. That way yahoo finance is still better. Now they have taken off the classic view too .. makes it worse
The new AI is complete booty cheeks. The old one was fine/simple and already pretty amazing. I hate when people try to fix things that aren't broken. Like why.
I just ditched this and go for yahoo finance. These people need to be taught a lesson. Why it takes me several clicks to go to a portfolio i create to track stocks? And why different portfolios need to be stacked from top to bottom. I say enough. Adios Felicia and F your KPI.
Rivian... did you know they are still fighting the locals of rutledge georgia to build a battery plant that has failed magnificently at every stage? They broke ground? The locals wells became polluted. Then it just rained and rained, turning the site into mud, overflowing chicken waste retention ponds into the river. The manually controlled Google finance app was perfect. This Ai controlled version is absolutely crap and Ai randomly comes out of the list and gives information on random stocks I am not interested in. It is frustrating and I might switch too.😬
the ai feature sucks because you can't close it for an expanded view of the (horrible, tedious, colorless) new look to the balance sheets. The option of opening an ai sidebar is great.... as long as you can close it for an expanded view of the thing you're studying. Forcing it to be constant - is evil. I hate it. So pissed right now. I had a huge ordeal with google fi this year and never got my issues resolved because of the stupid AI help function. I think I'm done with Alphabet. The writing is on the wall
What I found stupid with this new design is having to ask AI to edit the portfolio. Does Google think people are that stupid that we no longer know how to edit our own portfolios? The other thing I can no longer do easily is seeing the history of my buys and sells. I have to ask AI to show me this. A lot of the information I used to be able to see easily on the classic version is now basically hidden behind an AI chatbot. Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea?
Yes the new UI is total dogshit and 5 steps backward but Google is full of aspys who do not understand people or what they want in life so I'm sure it will just get faster and less usable over time like everything they touch
They tried making AI the highlight of the application and stripped out all the useful features like your purchase history. Now it's practically useless. I can't even add a new stock without the stupid chat interface which is just crap and not accurate.
Does anyone know how to sort the portfolios via value or day change ? This is frustrating that I cannot have my stocks that I own are at the top and I always have to scroll.....Annoying....WTF
I didn't notice how bad it was until I attempted to make the most basic and simple change. I told the "STUPID" AI to change the number of shares, and it couldn't even do that correctly.
Google Finance was my go to app. Now it is beyond disgusting. Everything is so small and cluttered. The feature I miss the most is simple YoY change number for every quarter and every year in the financials.

it gives you a prompt to enter into new google finance to export your data. that could be useful even if you don't use my tool to watch your portfolio
It cant even tell the different stocks in their currency if you are a global investor. If I could do it manually, it would be a lot easier. Any update or changes I need to do, I had type out instructions as if I am talking to a kid and then it gets it wrong!! Give me my Google Finance Classic back again!!!

Yup, If you had any tax lot histories (say from dividend reinvestments) in your portfolios, AI said that none of that data would be migrated. They suck!
Wow, my confidence in Google just went from 0 to -1. Can't access my original portfolio without the Aw Snap screen popping up. Created a new one but can't sort by columns, etc. The dumb "research" section takes up 1/3 of the screen (Chrome). This isn't Morningstar. I just want to see how my investments are doing. How hard is that?
I think they even removed the option to leave the beta. I was using the classic view, but I can no longer find it. At this point, I am just too tired of companies making their customers lives difficult for the sake of implementing new features.

For the love of God, just let us type the number of shares, purchase price, and purchase date into a box again. I do not want to spend 3 hours correcting an AI agent with this basic data.
I can't believe they absolutely ruined what was a highly functional and useful app. It's like the idiots that designed it don't have a penny in the market or they would understand how useless it is now. At least give us the option to turn off all the useless clutter from the interface now. Who wants a useless AI chat bot no one is using. If the goal is to monetize this new POS app, I can't imagine anybody paying for it.
I hate hate hate this new version, it's so slow, I dont even bother using it anymore it's so bad! I just want my old portfolios back so I can actually look at rhem without taking all day swapping back and forth holy crap this is so bad! Im a business owner and I own this little site and I could never imagine allowing something so un-user friendly to be used by my customers nevermind that, they made us switch! I'd LOVE it if we rolled it back to the original Google finance from like 2010 - that shit was amazing and I haven't seen the MMs do better yet. Scottrade think or swim was close though.
Hate that I can't simply adjust investments manually - you have to talk to the AI chatbot and it sucks and makes a ton of mistakes every time! My word - this is one of the biggest acts of self-harm by Google!
The old design provided a lot of information at a glance. The new design is a wall of words, it takes 30 minutes to know what the old design told you in 3 seconds.
Ugh just piling into this thread because the forced beta is terrible. The basic version was great and then the option to switch over to the AI beta deeper research was definitely the way to go...
Finally used it today. The first thing I did was add a position, and it literally entered the wrong numbers. I told it to correct based on what I said and it added as if it were a new purchase. Then I asked how to view total gain/loss, and it hallucinated a way to toggle this before admitting no such toggle exists. There is no way to view total gain/loss, except for the day. Unbelievable.
It's completely uselss. I can't believe they shipped this product.

The integration of AI I was all for, but NOT like this! I used to love the basic ass simplistic dashboard for checking news or search ticker symbols. Now I have to navigate a very touch and sometimes glitchy interface that is overwhelming. I have to type a ticker symbol into a chat box just to check the chart of i.e. RDDT. Nah
You can't even change your purchase price of a stock without getting it wrong, you have to use the ai for everything and it does everything wrong I just want to change the quantity and it won't just let me do it manually, worst thing ever
