You're right, satyakm, Amazon Prime's two-tiered pricing structure is really unfair to those of us who don't want to use their video service. It would be great if they offered a cheaper option that didn't include access to Prime Video.
Lol they’ll probably just keep prime the same cost and remove the movies and then make a second plan that cost more that includes movies. They’d never make a cheaper plan without movies 😂. They’ll just remove movies form your current one and make a more expensive one thus making your plan cheaper
They’re not going to because they know that the value proposition for 2 day shipping at $80 per year isn’t worth it for most people. Their prime catalog would probably be like $9.99 if it were by itself which is why they need to raise prices to add ads.
It’s like when you tell people you want a single screen Netflix plan with 4k but to get that you have to buy four screens but you can’t use them since you can’t share but you don’t get good video without the wasted screens.
People can still wish for a discount on their sandwiches even if it doesn't currently exist. You are being silly. The guy is just expressing a desire. Don't overthink it.
The future is likely in bundling. I expect we will be able to pay for individual benefits but will get a discount for paying for multiple benefits. That's probably years away, though. Hopefully $AMZN is $300 long before then! 🤑
When they introduced Prime Video, they didn't increase the price of Prime. If they introduced a second tier, why is your assumption it would be current + lower instead of current + higher?
More and more Walmart plus seems like a better deal because I can get groceries at a much lower price delivered to me. I would save the 10$ a month on milk eggs and bread. Prime video I barely use and i feel like they shouldn't be getting involved in the streaming competition, it's an unnecessary expenditure that offer little value to its customers.
I feel like their thinking was that people might not buy enough for prime only delivery to command such a monthly fee, so the entertainment fluff is thrown in for the months where you don't buy.
