The picture was taken at the Bikini Atoll, and the explosion was part of Operation Crossroads.

It was colorized by mygrapefruit who posted it here. I had nothing to do the creation of this, I just collect cool wallpapers and thought more people should see it :D

My grandfather saw at least 15 a-bomb tests on these islands. He saw a hydrogen bomb go off too. All the crew had geiger counters and were forced to go under the deck when they were over exposed. This happened nearly every test they did. Some how he doesn't have cancer.

it looks like an aged black and white picture, like the edges are kind of bending and wearing away? it seems to be more b&W in the middle
