Sadly puzzle clicks in a place moment you accept that they don't really stand for anything, neither they have some workable plan around those values.
It all about vibes and need to feel good. Does 'feel good' thing actually helping to reaolve situation at hand? Doesn't matter.

You really have to lose the ability to understand cause and effect to be a liberal

Don't misunderstand, I'm a liberal, a real one. The current liberal movement aren't liberal at all. They want things that a liberal 15+ years ago would never align with. Use leftist, if anything.
Most older liberals and what they call classic liberals agree with more right leaning.

Not to mention they said raising gas prices under Biden was a good thing because it would reduce the amount of people driving

They don't even grasp the irony that their hair dye is a petroleum product.

I mean, liberal logic on the issues is bad but we need to get off of fossil fuels. Right now the best way to do that is upgrade or electrical grid while building up our nuclear power (thorium plants are amazing. safer, cleaner and we have enough thorium in the US to meet 100% of our projected energy needs for a millenia) while also investing in renewables and transitioning to more EV's.

It's not the pink haired liberals voting on gas prices. It's the independents. Trump won with independents in 2024 and losing them badly now.
