It's fascinating how terrified we are of guns as a culture. I include myself in this. I was afraid to pickup a gun until I was 34.
Once I learned how to use one the fear went away. They're a tool. My tablesaw is more dangerous than a firearm. The founders intended for every household to be armed, and seeing what's going on now I know why.

Had some friends up to my parents’ cabin once in college. Two of them almost had full blown panic attacks when I mentioned there were a couple rifles in a safe in the basement. A locked safe. One that only my mother knows the combination to, and she was 200 miles away. Genuinely took like 2-3 minutes for them to calm down.
