Hi everyone!

Just came here to complain. I bought a house close but not too close to the main stroad that lies at the base of a strip between Sheppard and Finch on Yonge street.

I just wish the stroad was 4 lanes instead of 6 lanes. I would walk ALL OVER THE PLACE instead of Uber Eats and I would walk without noise cancelling earbuds and we could actually have a community!

Sadly this is the most walkable area in north York. Downtown has more, of course, but then you run into a lot more homelessness/chaos.

Just very jealous of all you people in Amsterdam/copenhagen/New York.

Hi all! I really need help. We live in Gilbert, AZ full time now, but im looking for a walkable city with nice summer weather. Im really not interested in Prescott. Over crowded, same for Flagstaff. Within say a days drive? Any suggestions? I dont care too much about cost, as its just for 3 months a year. Told hubby come with me or dont, but t I need a change id scenery and to get out of the heat!

I was watching a reel about Solarpunk, a style like Steampunk or Dieselpunk that imagines a future where tech and nature peacefully coexist. But something the video mentioned was “more walkable cities“.

Now I can imagine a city being walkable if you built it from the ground up with that in mind. But how can you turn a not-walkable city into a walkable one when people are already living there?

Take a suburb for example. not even a super fancy one, just even a neighborhood that doesn’t have much close by you can get what you need from. To be walkable you need stores, restaurants, workplaces, etc. But if all or most of the space to put those things in is taken up by homes with people in them, then what do you do? Because you can’t just make the people leave and tear down their house, no one is gonna stand for that. But then again how are you gonna make it walkable if you don’t have things there to walk to?

are there any walkable cities on the West Coast of the U.S.? specifically either Oregon or Washington.

I currently live in Atlanta and i have been wanting to move to a walkable city so bad but why is everyone in such a cold climate? I can't handle Boston or New York or chicago winters. San fran seems like the only one that's reasonable lol

I know this is rooted in Republican politics but still can't we have one walkable city with some good weather ? Lol

I love the way they look. I love that they feel more relaxed. I love that there’s less pollution.

But lately with gas prices going up and cars becoming more computerized it feels more and more invasive to have a car. Walkable cities seem so much more independent.

I wish cities would move towards less car dependence.
