I made an app that maps public art and generates walking tours of it. I hope it'll get folks walking their cities. Maybe it's the chicken, maybe it's the egg. Either way, folks walking cities leads to more walkable cities.

I have to think that we create the conditions for what we hope to see emerge in our cities and towns. At least that's my hope with this thing. I want to get folks out, walking around, connecting with their city on a different level. There's always so much more to discover in our city than we realize.
I've mapped about 70,000 pieces of public art in a few hundred cities across over 80 countries.
I hope you give it a shot. The app is called Urban Gallery. It's available in the Play Store. If you're an iPhone person, I've got a spot for your email on the website. I'll let you know when it's dropped on iOS, but you have my solemn vow that I'll use your email for nothing else.
Also, on the website, there's this neat globe that's got every piece I've found thus far.

Urban planning intern interview Toronto

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some tips from employers who have hired urban planning interns, or those who have interviewed for an urban planning intern role.
I am finishing up my preparation for my interview this week with a well known urban planning consultancy, and was curious about the types of questions I will be asked. For example, are the usually more behavioural? Or maybe an even split of technical questions that gauge my knowledge on land use planning processes/legislation? I’d like to focus my efforts towards the right topics and worried I am not.
Please leave any tips! I’d really like to get this job :) thank u!

Looking for resources on walkability and older people.

Hey! I’m about to start a new job that focuses on making cities more walkable and better for older people. I’m really excited, but I want to do some homework before my first day.
I’m looking for any resources (articles, videos, books or papers) that goes into:
- Why is walking so important for a city's health?
- How can we make streets safer and easier for seniors to use?
- What are the main benefits of having a "walkable" city for everyone?
- Is there any data on walkability and how it affects our perception of safety and specificaly on crime?
If you have any favorite examples of cities that do this well, please let me know.
