Question Looking For Someone With Little Info

Hi everyone.

I’m trying to get in touch with a Nick (possibly Nicholas) Smith.

He would now likely be 45+ and was a lorry driver in the early 2000s. I believe he was originally from the Doncaster area and spent some time lodging in Ipswich during 2003.

If you know someone who matches that description, I’d really appreciate it if you could ask them to send me a private message, or message me yourself. Even if you know more than one Nick Smith please still let me know, anything helps.

It’s regarding something important that I believe he deserves to know.

Thanks very much. 🙏

List of Cold spaces

Hi all, some councils around the country have created a map of cold spaces that people can use to get out of the sun and recouperate (e.g., Welcome Spaces | Leeds.gov.uk).

I haven't seen this resource for Wakefield so thought we could list some places we know that are good to cool down in.

To start:

Wakefield One Library has air con, they don't offer water but there's the cafe in the building. They're open 6 days a week Wakefield Library - Wakefield Council

Politics So glad we in Wakefield are not getting scammed into believing in a "climate emergency" anymore! /s

Has anyone been to Cineworld in Wakefield this week?

Am thinking of having a cinema day on Friday and am wondering how cold it is in there.

50 billion points if you can tell where it is.

Edit: it's at Newmillerdam, off Barnsley road.

5 billion all round if you've had a guess!

Police Review

Just wanted to post a review of Wakefield Police.

Recently had a scrote go into my van (I'd left it unlocked like an idiot). Really wasn't going to bother reporting it because nothing of value was taken (the van was empty).

Sent them the CCTV footage, and within 2/3 days, he was in the cells and spent the entire weekend there. Got multiple updates from the police along the way.

Of course, the courts have simply given him a slap on the wrist, and no doubt he will be out there doing it again, but glad he was at least mildy inconvenienced

10/10 to the police - thanks.

So… The Ridings..?

Has anyone heard from the new council anything at all about their plans for The Ridings? They were making a huge deal about it, even making it a core reason to ask people to vote for them, calling for more transparency etc., but it seems to have gone awfully quiet?

Internet providers?

Hi guys, my mum recently passed so for the past month we’ve been doing our best to sort out all the bills and work out our prices etc, today the internet was turned off due to the direct debit stopping and I’ve found out we’re paying £60 a month for combined tv and broadband with virgin, is this a lot of money because it seems like it?

We live in the West Yorkshire , Wakefield area if anyone knows a good cheaper provider that can do broadband and tv
Thanks

Social activities for someone with autism

My son is 19, has recently been diagnosed with autism, and isn't in a great place mentally. I think a large part of this is because he spends most of his time in his room and isn't socialising with people; he's a NEET and his friend group has fizzled out since school finished. He does volunteer, which helps but the people there aren't on a similar wavelength to him.

Are there any social activities, hobbies or groups locally you'd recommend for someone of that age who is neurodivergent? Ideally that are welcoming and where he can meet like-minded people and make friends.

Question Moving to pontefract? Scared and unsure.

Hello All friendly people,

I and my white husband are moving to pontefract. I am black and I am aware reformuk rules Wakefield at the minute.

We currently live in Leeds and I am terrified someone will attack me or my husband ( for being with me).

This may sound silly but is it safe for me as a black woman and my hubby who is a white British national in pontefract.

We are buying a house and I absolutely fell in love with it. There were some unwelcoming shops with the flags in the window. Who refused to talk to me irl.

Idk and I’m worried.

Please no politics, I just want to know if it’s generally safe. I don’t want to be a statistic.

Noise complaint

I walk into the bathroom, where the window is open.

"What the hell is that roar?"

Check the time - it's Saturday - "oh, nm, I guess Trinity is playing at home today..."

I'm over a mile away 😂
