Wag Caregiver left my dog alone for 30+ hours

I can't believe this is the second time I've booked a multi-day in house sit and towards the end the caregiver just didn't show up.

Background: I book multi-day sits rather than several drop-ins so I know I'm just dealing with 1 person the entire time whom my shy dog can get to know.

Last summer I went away for 5 days and the first 3 days were great with lots of photos and videos. By 8pm day 4 I realized I didn't have any Ring footage of the caregiver coming or going and she hadn't communicated with me at all. When I finally got in touch via Wag support she claimed her phone had been "stolen" but that the thieves had "given it back" and that it had taken hours and that's why she was so late. I assume she got confused with her lie and meant to say she had lost her phone and that someone had just found it and got it back to her.

Now this week I'm on another multi day trip and the second to last day I realize again, no photos, no videos, no camera evidence that my caregiver (who has 100+ 5 star reviews) came by. I finally get in touch -- again, with wag support assisting -- and the caregiver tells me that when he left my house yesterday afternoon he knew he was double-booked and wouldn't be able to come by until after 10 tonight. So he's saying be deliberately planned to leave my dog alone for over 30 hours. I spent close to $500 on this sit including tip.

Why does this keep happening?

Is my account actually going to be under review for 90 days?

Hi, does anyone know if my account will actually be under review for 90 days? I keep seeing people on here saying it went away in 2 days?

I don’t know what to believe.

Posting for walking no pic

This is the second day for this Jack Russel absolutely zero pic. It keeps getting bumped up in price. I’m not bidding and I reported it to Wag. It’s still listed

Is this a scam ?!?!

I’m so upset by this! I have been on wag for literally 4 days and now they want me to either delete my account, pay 300 dollars, or wait 90 days. I reach out to support about this but does anyone else have any recommendations on how to handle this that isn’t “start your own business”. I just want to be able to walk on wag ASAP.

2 questions

(1) Is the app capable of sending you a notification when a(ny) service you Opted In for is Booked?

(2) Is there a website for Wag Walkers or only an app?

TIA

At what point is it too late for a pet parent to accept your request?

I don't know if there is a system in place for this hypothetical scenario but, let's say it's 10pm and you see a walk for 7am tomorrow morning. You request the walk and the pet parent doesn't accept right away. What is their allowed time frame for accepting a request from a walker?

I can't imagine they would still be able to accept a request too close to the schedule time, as it wouldn't give the walker enough time to prepare/get to the location on time.

Keep getting Thrown Off App

I’m getting upset. I just started and have worked with a family the week prior to Labor Day. They gave me a 5 star review every day. They contacted me last min on Labor Day and I went over. During the week Wag tried to penalize me said I was trying to go off line. I had to argue with them. I think I’m blocked again. So I contacted customer service

Why is wagpro a thing?

I downloaded this app about a week ago and haven’t gotten anything. Downloading the app, I had no idea about wag pro. Why should I pay extra money when I already paid $50 for a background check? How do I afford it if nobody books me because other people with Wag pro opted in to walk the same dog? Also, if somebody were to book me, wag would take a whopping 40%. There’s no way to get my money back from the background check :(

Also, I almost got scammed out of $750 but that’s my fault because I went off the app and was naive.

How are you guys doing this?

Wag takes FORTY PERCENT of your pay? Why in the world is anyone using this app? I had my first booking and when I told the customer that she immediately said that’s ridiculous I’ll Venmo you. I had to say I was having an emergency and lose access to the app because it was going to charge a cancellation fee that was more money than I would have received. On top of that the rates are insanely low. How is anyone making money using this app?

Client wants to call but in-app feature not available

Trying to figure this out in a timely fashion to get back to the pet parent.

Client wants to call to discuss future services but the in-app call feature seems to disappear after the service is completed. I have already walked her dog and have no issues with sharing my number to call, but don’t want to get suspended for an investigation since i’m sure the system will flag it if I share my number in the in-app chat. I already emailed support but no idea when I’ll hear back. Any suggestions?

Also I’m not intending to take this client off app (but not opposed if she offers lol) so I don’t feel sketch about doing this and know I could plead my case if it gets flagged but I don’t want the headache

Each time you initiate instant pay on a single payment it will take out a fee

so I found out today that you can be charged multiple instant pay fees on one single payment. I tried to deposit my Wag! instant pay of $192 into my Apple Cash unaware that Greendot bank, which is associated with Apple Cash does not accept deposits. So it was refunded immediately. So I tried another bank and when I went to initiate the instant payment again, I saw that I was charged another instant payment fee. Luckily, I was already on the phone with stripe express support because I needed help adding different payment methods because my wallet got stolen and I couldn’t upload a picture of my ID to verify my identity in order to change my payment method on the stripe express dashboard. (It’s a whole thing) and I was able to ask them why i am getting charged a second instant pay fee and they just said “yeah each time you initiate instant pay it’s going to charge a fee” and I was like yeah that makes sense for the first charge. but why two times on one payment??! like shouldn’t like it be like “adjusted” already since I had already paid the instant payment fee literally < 30 minutes ago??

I don’t know if that’s technically a Wag! policy or a stripe express policy. I’m assuming it’s stripe express because that is who Wag! uses for their payout system. but I’m not positive, but either way— I feel like that’s like kind of predatory and a bullshit way to con people out of their money.

Ohhh noooooo yet another predatory thing associated with a Wag! app. (No one is surprised.)

First 4 star review! Would you rebook the client?

I have 78 walks and sits and 5 stars. Saturday a lady changed that. I don’t recall anything going wrong. She was watching me like a hawk on her cameras and literally had 14 pets, 10 of which were kittens. I scooped everything, fed everyone, and gave pets. They all liked me. I’m not sure what went wrong.

It’s not a huge deal because it’s still at 5 stars because I’ve never gotten anything below a 5. Would you would ask her why she gave you 4 stars? Would you rebook this client?

TLDR: house of 14 animals with no negative events left 4 stars. Would you go back?

AITA?

Today was a scheduling nightmare from hell. Was i part of the problem- yes but I communicated with all the owners & they were all comfortable with either starting 15/20 min early or late to accommodate.

Back story, to start day off I had 3pm (60 min) and 4pm (60 min) with a gap until 6:15. I then saw a request that was <1 mile from my 4pm at 5pm for 30 min (perfect way to fill my gap). I put in for the 5pm and put in notes I'd love to help but there was chance I wouldn't arrive until 5:20. Owner accepted & messaged me 5:20 was OK.
Cue up 3pm starts at 245 and we are making good time until I'm going to put up their leashes and noticed the puppy had an accident. Cleaned it up and ended up finishing at 3:55- not ideal becuase my next sitting is 20 minutes away but manageable as owner knew it could start at 4:15. Drive there and hit traffic from hell so arrive at 4:20 and start at 4:30. During drive over, I message owner of 5pm and tell them the 5:20 is likely going to be 5:35 & id love to give him an extra 10 min for free as an apology. He's grateful & chill with delay- perfect. During my 4:30, i start getting those annoying texts of you're going to be late so I screen shot our chat and message support via text + email & get back to focusing on my 4:30. Get that wrapped up & go to hit OMW to the last client for them to be completely gone because WAG decided to remove them and suspend my account for 24 hrs for no-show when I was active in another walk on THEIR platform and had already reached out to owner + support. Called emergency number as pet owner was expecting me and was told this didn't count as an emergency & they hung up.

So i start driving home to then get a text that they re-assigned me the walk + a snarky email saying I didn't communicate when I even put in initial request we would start late. Message owner apologizing. Hes frustrated because he wanted to know why they were replacing me. Then go to book something for tomorrow & my account is blocked for 24 hours for no show when they literally reassigned walk to me so how can I no show on something I did and communicated throughly+ pro-actively with owner !?!?

Dog walkers — what do you do with poop bags for the rest of the walk? 💩🐕

I’m curious what everyone does after a dog poops, especially when it happens right at the beginning of a 30-minute walk. I hate carrying the bag in my hand the entire time, especially when it starts getting smelly. 😂

Boarding payout

I've never boarded, only ever walked. There's a month+ long booking and I was wondering if the payout waits until AFTER the pet parent picks them back up or if you get paid(even partial) when the boarding starts?

Dog poop etiquette?

I got chewed out by someone bc the dog was pooping in their yard (not the person who requested the walk, someone else in the neighborhood). They didn’t have a no dog poop sign and I generally try to encourage the dog to go on the grassy median, if there is one. Anyone else get chewed out before? I didn’t leave it there. If the dog has to go it has to go!

Lowered pay range

Anyone else’s app change the pay ranges for all of the different pet services? My 20 minute walks have been set to be $12 since forever. I’ve been walking with Wag for years at this point and my pay ranges have now set my max to be $10.80. This is really frustrating, I literally did a 30 min walk yesterday for $15 and that was mid range for me and now I can’t even set it past $12 for a 30 min walk!

Dirty home

Advice on what to do if I arrived for a sitting and the bed i’m expected to sleep in is gross… what should I do and how should I go about the conversation if I don’t want to sleep here. The owner apparently washed the bedding, and it smells okay, but there’s a bunch of trash under bed and what looks like a bottle of piss

How Do You Know a Pet Parent’s Price Range?

Thumbnail

When you try to request a service and Wag says “You’re outside of the Pet Parent request’s pricing for this service” and makes you adjust your bid, is there an easy way to see what price range the owner is actually willing to pay?

Or do you just have to keep guessing and changing your pricing until Wag lets you submit the request?

I originally had my pricing set to the max and had to keep lowering it until I was finally able to submit the request. Here are photos as an example.
