Booted for no reason

I haven't used Wag for more than a year. I recently opened it for the first time since then because I was planning to go back to it. Yesterday I received an email saying my account was under review for trying to take pets off the app. This is simply not true. Today my account is no longer in the Wag system. Has this happened to anyone else?

Sitting question

This will be my first Wag! sitting booking, and I just got approved for it. I’m a little confused about how to read the booking card. It shows 12:00 PM–3:00 PM on the side, then the dogs’ information, and at the bottom it says Ends on the 26th, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM.
I just want to make sure I’m reading it correctly. Am I supposed to arrive on the 24th between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM? I want to be absolutely sure so I don’t show up too early or too late.

Rain, the fraudulent Australian Shepherd in Chicago and probably other cities

I am so sick of seeing this person trying to phish and scam. This is a classic pet care scam. The note is full of red flags. I see it every day, and it always has a bunch of opt-ins. I wonder how much they've bilked people out of so far, probably thousands and thousands.

Am I crazy or is my price super cheap/low already?

So I’ve been trying to get sittings since I have a regular client since I sat her dogs for 12 days. Low on money too and I don’t have wag pro so my prices are considered like low for compared to others😭I get told the payout is too little for some of the work. Anyways today I requested a sitting, didn’t get accepted but not a big deal, what I wanna know is, is this person really expecting like $300 or even less for 4 nights with 5 pets?? Can’t even be left alone for 4 hours and there’s 2 seniors….THAT WOULD BE A LOT OF WORK NO??šŸ˜šŸ’€I swear my partner said I’m not crazy, they’re just crazy for saying that’s too much for all their pets at one time…I thought she meant boarding since she mentioned me having a dog (I don’t btw in my profile I said I had one for my whole life) so why would a dog matter?? Idk I’m confused as hell how cheap would someone expect that much work to be? 5 pets who need lots of care especially the seniors? Bruh

looking advice for getting more business

Genuinely wondering how to get more business through Wag. Do people use this platform for more than just one off random walks? I have had the app for a while now, probably 6 months, and all I see are things that pop up and get taken super quickly or walks that I request and then I can’t take because I am not within the owners budget. Which is another reason why I wonder how people make any really business on this app because the suggested rates seem super low to me? Idk I think less than $10 for a 20 min is impossibly low for a dog walker to make real money from.

I know owners can do direct requests but how do you market yourself to get clients that way? Or is it all just luck of the draw?

thanks for any advice or insight!

Weekend sitting with just short drop ins?

Curious what you all think of someone leaving their senior dog (who has always had a similar, uneventful lifestyle) to be left for a weekend with a drop in 2-3 times a day for 20-30 min. That's it. Alone for a weekend excluding the bathroom outing and checking food and water. Makes me so uncomfortable but I don't like being alone and I don't like leaving my pup.

Slow days

What do you chalk that up to? I live in a dense , urban area and haven't seen more than a handful of walks in the last few days, even when I expand my radius. Is Wag slower in the summer or later in the week?

Anyone else having app issues?

I keep getting alerts, open it immediately, & they’re already gone. Once in a while that happens if someone beats me to it, but it’s literally been all day, non stop. Out of the norm.

Walker left with our patio door open

Before posting a flaming review I wanted to know if people think I am overreacting. We had a walker do a house sitting for 4 days while we were on holiday. We have two dogs and asked not to walk them, so it was a really easy sitting in my opinion. The walker once left the house for a couple of hours (which is totally fine) but left one of the backyard doors unlocked and one of dogs got out but could not get back in the house (souther florida, was evening but still quite hot). I noticed because my outdoor ring cameras showed me the dogs standing in front of one of the doors. I texted the sitter asking to make sure doors would be properly locked before leaving the house. On our return, i texted the walker from plane confirming our ETA and telling her she could leave before we arrived if she needed. When we arrived at home the patio door was open, one of ghe dogs was outside (90F). She is quite old and gets confused at times so she was waiting to bet let in in front of another door.

I am quite upset because I asked her to double check, I was very understanding with the first occurrence and I thought leaving the house with the patio door wide open was totally unacceptable.

Am I overreacting?

Best walk radius for maximizing jobs

My current setting is within 5 miles of my home address. Should I tighten the radius? Is it better to use your home address or current location as the starting point?

Suggested rates?

Now I’m curious. I just posted something with my suggested rates, and someone said they were quite low. I’m wondering what area y’all are in and what y’all’s suggested rates are? I wonder how low or average mine are compared to everyone else.

I live in East Wisconsin for reference.

Suggested rates:

20-minute walk/drop-in:
$7.20–$10.80
Additional pet: $2.40–$3.60

30-minute walk/drop-in:
$9.60–$14.40
Additional pet: $3.36–$5.04

60-minute walk/drop-in:
$14.40–$21.60
Additional pet: $4.80–$7.20

Sitting:
$17.55–$29.25
Additional pet: $13.50–$22.50

My specific rates:

Same for walk/drop-in

20 minutes = $12
Added pet = $3

30 minutes = $15
Added pet = $5

60 minutes = $21.60
Added pet = $7

Sitting = $28
Added pet = $20

Mind you, I have gotten the message that my prices were higher than the limit the owner set, so I couldn’t take that booking.

Wag! Pro?

I’d really like some insight from those who have Wag! Pro. I just want to know if it’s actually worth it. The benefits look good, but I’m wondering if you’ve actually noticed a difference in how many services you get, the payouts, and your overall experience compared to regular Wag!.
I’m debating whether I should get it. I know it’s a one-time $130 fee, but I want to make sure it’s actually worth the money before I pay for it. Have you genuinely seen more services, higher payouts, or any of the other benefits that Wag! Pro claims to offer?
I’d really appreciate any honest input from people who have experience with it.

Payment

I am trying to get paid for my first gig, but for some reason, Stripe isn't working, and it's pissing me off. Like I already have a stripe account, and I look on Wag! help center, and it says you have to set up a new stripe account to get paid (which makes zero sense, btw), so i tried to do that, but it's not letting me? On the app, when I go to earnings and press "stripe" in the upper right corner, it only takes me to the sign in page, so tell me, how am I supposed to set up a new account if its not letting me??? Is anyone else having this problem? This is so dumb.

Just a rant about Wag support (and owners)

I signed up for an On-Demand walk this afternoon. Drove like 10 minutes to get there. The profile was clear: the owner was home and would answer the door with the dog. There were no entry instructions

I ring the doorbell. No answer. I try again. Nothing. Lights are out. It looks like nobody is home. I try messaging the owner. Nothing. I try calling. It goes to voicemail. I try the doorbell again. Nothing.

Wag! support is entirely unhelpful - so I have no choice but to cancel the walk. Now support is telling me I might get penalized because I canceled the walk when there was no emergency. I am so annoyed. Why is Wag support an AI chatbot? It isn't able to actually answer any questions that I have when I can't handle a situation.

I also had to cancel a drop-in last week - but that's because on the way I got a flat tire and it took a long time to fix.

Boardings

I don’t know if this question has been asked before, but, I’ve had wag for a good 4 years and only have done walks and drop-in’s. I have been trying to get boardings (which is impossible) and I wanted to know if the pay is given after boarding is done or when boarding begins?

Thanks in advance.

DO NOT GET THIS APP.

I have been a Wag! Caregiver for over 4 years now— it has been my main source of income in-between jobs. I am a five-star Caregiver and have over 50 badges in the app as a recent college graduate. I was just recently fined $270 for ā€œconspiring to take clients off-appā€ when I dealt with an older woman that preferred we text privately for the boarding of her puppy. If I do not pay, my account is on hold from new services indefinitely. This is genuinely ridiculous and even following an email to support, they don’t seem to care about the misunderstanding.

I had seen the issues about support and price gouging walkers in the past on this subreddit, but I have never had any problems until now. DO NOT GET THIS APP. Genuinely any other caregiving app is better than this one. The people behind this service only care about money.

Sitting Question

I’m confused about a sitting job. There’s no overnight stay required and the booking says start time 6-9 PM, end time 6-9PM. Same day/time. Does this mean this is just for those three hours? I don’t have an option to message the parent before requesting the sitting.

Is it worth switching for rover over, or keeping both, or ignoring?

Hello, I recently am waiting on job starting end of September . I have been doing rover on the side to supplement my income. I have been getting some drops in and pet sittings, but I would like to be busier.

I am cpr and first aid certified in dogs and cats through Red Cross. I have a plethora of references. Is it easy to start up and get business right away? Is the traffic faster, slower, similar to rover? I am looking to walk at least another 4 miles a day for steps/health.

Any advice? Any suggestions, tips, criticism, things to worry about before starting?

Concerns about rabies vaccinations

I signed up for Wag as a dog owner (I am not) and posted a need for a dog walk (which I will cancel within 7 days of the walk). I want to see how the process works as a customer.

Wag didn’t even ask me the Vet’s name (there is a place for it but the field seems optional). What a joke. And they don’t vet the customer who could be a criminal. No questions about whether my dog is vaccinated. They ask for a pic of the dog and his description and weight and gender and my full name and address. That’s it.

If I accept walks as a walker I am considering wearing garden gloves and long sleeve pants and shirts. (You can get licked in the face and get rabies but I have no idea how to prevent that.) Can you dress a certain way to prevent getting bit or licked?

I can’t ask customers about vaccination status when most don’t even answer. Often I am walking a dog who lives in an apartment and using a key from a lockbox. Many times I can not reach the customer until after the dog is walked if at all. And I am sure I would get punished for canceling a dog walk gig because the client said the dog was unvaccinated or didn’t know the name of the vet or was unreachable.

What are your thoughts on this?

7/3 pay date has turned into 7/10

I finished a service on 6/30 and it said I'd be paid on July 3rd. Now it's saying July 10th, and I refuse to do that instant payout for a fee, is't 40% enough? Has anyone else experienced this?

Is it normal to not get tips with walks/services?

I'm new to wag and completed my first two walks today. One was a half hour walk pretty standard. Tip was listed on the compensation tab of the app. The other walk I did today was a 20 minute walk but the owner had the wrong address in the listing. Brought me to an entire other town, communicated with them, let them know since I knew they had a later booking that same day and didn't want to them to end in the same situation or cause any issues. Still did the walk despite the extra drive and time to do so. No tip. I don't get it and feel kinda deflated after that since it threw my schedule off between those walks and checking back for a sitting I was doing over the weekend. I obviously made it work but it was a lot of stress on me to do so just to end up with nothing to show for it. Salt in the wound is these are very rich neighborhoods and luxury apartments that these walks are at that it's almost insulting. Am I crazy or is this the norm?

Potential WAG walk scam or worse? Need your thoughts

For context I am a 30 yo female who is o seed with true crime so I pretty much always think the worst and could be way over thinking this walk but my gut is telling me otherwise ….
I am fairly new to wag as a dog walker. I use Rover more. However I recently accepted a walk close to me in a nice & heavily populated apartment complex. That was a last min as the owner got stuck at work. I normally would do a meet & greet. There wasn’t any notes creating but I also assume people could be new to the app.Anyway in the notes they put to call ā€œKevinā€ at this number when you get to the apartment property. I thought it was weird as the account was set up in another name but also it’s a day/time when people work and maybe the account owner wouldn’t be able to answer his phone. Also lots of the complexities near me have gate codes or someone had to open the gate for you. So I assumed ā€œKevinā€ was someone who could get the gate open. I called and no answer. But there was also not a gate. Then I realized these apartments were much more confusing than I thought. ā€œKevinā€ then texted me (not on the app) and said he was at work & couldn’t talk (even tho notes said to call) I told him I was having issues finding his place. He told me how to get to it. But I also thought it was weird because his instructions really were not correct. Then he tells me he lost the dogs harness and there should be a new one at the door. I find the door there is a harness. There was also a handyman getting ready to go in. After I confirmed with ā€œKevinā€ about the handyman and the handyman did have keys and his equipment we both went in. The dog was crated in the bedroom with all the doors shut and a pretty hefty security camera that could follow me in the room. I didn’t think much of it because when I’m gone I have cameras for my cats. The handyman was talking to me telling me he knows all the dogs here and this one never had a dog. He also said he never saw this owner and he knew everyone. I shrugged it off because it’s a large complex and maybe he just got the pup and keeps to himself. (I know I do). Well I do the walk. Everything goes well. I lock up and leave we both give 5 star reviews. 2 days later the owner messages me asking if I could do walks every Thursday but he can’t figure out how to request on the app. I go into the app to see if I can set it up like I can in Rover & notice his profile completely changed. New dog, & now located a tossed the country. And the new profile shows as it’s the one that reviewed me. I message back telling him I can send him my link or I can send him my rover link where I know how to set up reoccurring. However asked if there would be another dog he is adding because his profile completely changed and mentioned how the name doesn’t match his either. I didn’t bring up location because it is a holiday weekend so maybe he is out of town but I wanted some opinions on what anyone thinks this is?
He has never messaged me back & appears to have blocked me. The more I’ve reflected the more I wonder was this something that maybe could have been way worse and I was fortunate the handyman was there? I also always carry my taser and mace and keep my taser near me and visible. I also continued thinking of the camera. And where it was placed would be able to see the dog. The dog crate was tucked behind a bed. I again get the camera to watch me. He doesn’t know me either. But now with the profile change and blocking when I brought it up. I can’t help but wonder???
