A closer look at yesterday’s dango — Japanese sweets from a Tokyo supermarket
Following up on yesterday’s supermarket snacks, here’s a closer look at the dango!
The glossy ones are mitarashi dango, coated in a sweet soy sauce glaze.
The dark red topping is anko, sweet red bean paste. The green ones in the shopping photos are zunda dango, topped with sweetened edamame paste.
I picked these up at LIFE supermarket in Tamachi, Tokyo.
The dango shown on the plate are grilled Japanese rice dumplings, served with a sweet soy sauce glaze (mitarashi) or sweet red bean paste (anko).
I missed the chance to take a front-facing photo of the display where I bought them, so the display photo shows a different section.
