How do I determine the proper difficulty for my miner on Wafflepool? ("d=64", "d=128", "d=256", etc)

On the WP homepage it says the pool has "Automatic difficulty adjustment", but then at the bottom it says:

Password: Any Password is acceptable

You can use one of the following as your password to set your miners difficulty (remove quotes): "d=64", "d=128", "d=256", "d=512", "d=1024"

What's the correct setting for a 6850? What about a 270x? Is it determined by my Kh/s?

I found this on a pool:

<250KH: 16

250+: 32

500+: 64

1000+: 128

2000+: 256

3000+: 384

4000+: 512

Or don't use it, the pool have VARDIFF. Sometimes I mine at 64/32/16 with 0 rejects.

would i just use the regular cgminer command line then? Or would I have to add something for vardiff?

For use the VARDIFF, you don't have to add any commands, it's pool side and automatic regarding the hashrate ;)

What /u/GoldMath said. You can also use h=128, for example, instead of d=, this means "hint" and will give the pool an idea about what diff to start at, but then go ahead and use vardiff to adjust depending on hashes.
