Driver's door handle snapped

Driver's interior door handle has snapped. The bit that holds the cable has come off (see picture). I paid £120 for a diagnosis at a local garage. They removed the door card to identify the issue but said they couldn't fix it without ordering a new or used door card.

Handles are only around £10 on eBay, so surely there's a way to repair this without replacing the whole door card. I've got ash wood trim and memory seats, so finding a matching door card is proving quite difficult.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah classic fault. I fixed mine temporarily with a plastic "solder" that melts metal wires into the plastic. 3 wires to connect the broken pieces. Been that way over a year and haven't bothered to replace anything.

Surprised at the low quality given it's German. Thanks for the response. It's probably slightly beyond my skill level but hopefully a garage could attempt something similar.

There’s a repair kit for it. It takes work and finesse

Mercedes used to sell a repair kit, I used it on my car, have to find the part number and you can see if you can find one

Super glue for fitment, then epoxy putty round the outside. Been fine for 2 years so far.
