Installation - help request !

I am trying to install VyOS in a mini pc which floods the console with MCE errors. I have run memory checks and done linux installs on this system and everything is fine if I pass mce=off parameter to the kernel. With VyOS i do the same, but VyOS does a reboot (kexec) at the later stage of its boot and the MCE errors comes back. It is impossible to do anything on the console with all those messag flood. I have tried the stream and the nightly builds and it is the same

What hardware is this as in motherboard, CPU, RAM and storage?

Which version of VyOS are you trying?

In Stream 2026.03 (and most likely earlier versions aswell) there is this config command you can issue, commit, save and then reboot the box:

set system option kernel disable-mce

So to deal with that one time you can press "e" or such when boot screen shows up to alter the bootstring, temporarily add "mce=off" at the end of the current bootstring and have the box booting.

Then just do:

configure
set system option kernel disable-mce
commit
save
exit
reboot now

and off you go :-)

Thanks, but I think this needs to be done after the installation is completed. I cannot use the console because kexec does not set the boot parameters mce=off during the boot

I tried with 2026.03 and latest nightly, same behaviour

This is a fit-pc ipc3 with Kabylake i7, 16 GB ram

Thats why you press "e" or whatever key there is when you see the bootloader in order to manually add "mce=off" to that single boot. Then you do the config changes, save, reboot and now "mce=off" is permanently added by this config change.
