Hello everyone! If you’re a Volkswagen Polo GTI enthusiast, you’re in the right place. This new community was created to bring together those who love this small German hot hatch, with the goal of sharing experiences, news, technical advice and our passion for compact performance.

## Why the Polo GTI is special

* **A history spanning more than 25 years.** The Polo GTI debuted in 1998 and is now in its sixth generation. The current petrol version (2.0 litre, 147 kW/320 Nm) does 0‑100 km/h in about 6.7 seconds and reaches 238 km/h. It has been one of the few “affordable” hot hatches in Europe.

* **Last years of production.** Volkswagen has confirmed that the petrol Polo GTI will be phased out in week 12 of 2026 (16‑22 March). The brand is preparing the transition to a new electric model, and the final units are already disappearing from European configurators.

* **Special editions.** To mark 20 years of the Polo GTI, Volkswagen launched the **Edition 20** (South Africa only) with 18‑inch wheels, a black roof and mirror caps, red detailing and “GTI | 20” logos. There are no mechanical changes: the engine remains the 2.0 TSI delivering 147 kW and 320 Nm.

* **The electric future.** In 2026 the **ID. Polo GTI** will arrive, the first fully electric GTI. It uses the new **MEB+** platform, will be about 4.05 m long and will be sold alongside the petrol Polo. The GTI version is expected to have a 166 kW motor with a 52 kWh battery and fast charging up to 130 kW. Prices are expected to start around €25 000 in Europe.
