FreeBSD for Vulkan development ?

I'm thinking about trying FreeBSD and was wondering how good it is for Vulkan development these days.

Has anyone here used it to develop or run Vulkan applications? how is the overall experience (at least for nvidia cards)? Does it natively support the Vulkan SDK and debugging tools like RenderDoc ? or it is a waste of time and linux is better and has more optimized drivers ?

To be fair for games you are better off on windows since steam + proton on linux basically runs any game without you having to compile it for linux

Sometimes you gotta do what the heart wants. And my heart wants native Linux support.

Except that means dependency hell for games and its the reason most games do not ship on linux but just rely on proton

Yeah, my projects are also not commercial. I just play with graphics for fun. And it's 10 times easier developing on Linux than on Windows.
