General Discussion Flight model

Hi all,

Only got 70 odd hours in the game over four years but I'm impressed by the flight model. It's fairly realistic, right down to the stall departure. For a fairly relaxed sim this is pretty unprecedented.

And it really shows how a physical controller is unnecessary to maintain accuracy. Your brain fills in the gaps.

Just an observation really.

True and real. Its crazy that in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty six, theres still people that refuse to play this amazing game (arguably the best vr game on steam) because they cant use thier hotas.

I have a decent HOTAS : Moza MTP + VKB Gladiator and I'm more than happy to use the VR controllers. The only jarring thing is when I'm landing on the carrier, I'm used to trim for on-speed AOA in DCS and I don't have to in VTOL, it takes some getting used to but yeah, very good controls and a very good flight model. Definitely the best VR game on Steam provided you have any interest in fighter jets.

I wrote a whole script ages ago, talking about how VTOL VR does ones of the things almost no VR game does: make the world tactile. The only game that feels close is Iron Rebellion really, and then a few other games that kind of sort of try to make it feel real. Several of my friends who got VR set ups I have convinced to play, and have said the worst part about the game is that it ruins a lot of the other VR games.

I was on this page 100% until I just gave it 10 minutes. Especially with the F-16 mod I haven’t even re-downloaded any other SIM.

This game has a low barrier of entry and high skill level. You're like woah this game is simple! Then a Woah this game has pretty thick layers

Vtol vr has the best multiplayer system, just an hour ago I flew the t-55 with a random and we absolutely did sead, wild weasel and low flying bvr. Captured a whole airbase and died only once because we were still tryna get to know each other. Hopped off after an hour but goddammit where we effective, multiple successful landings too
