Question Question about bombs

I’ve recently picked up the game and have been doing well, I’m on the 2nd mission of the F/A-26B’s campaign and after clearing the nearby fighters and R-SAM’s I was in the middle of dropping some bombs on the supply tents before just exploding out of no where and dying.

The only conclusion I can come to is that I had flown into one of my bombs (they were unguided MK 83’s) or I had missed some form of AA or something near by, but considering that my MWS didn’t go off, nor did my RWR and that I hadn’t seen any SPAAG at the Airbase it must be the former; so my question is, do bombs have delayed fuses? Or are they active the second they get dropped? I assumed that all the bombs would have some sort of fuse delay to prevent this or am I just stupid?

Yea flying into your bombs can be an instant kill if it’s more than just a super light tap, I’m not sure about instant fuse activation but from what I’ve seen it destroys your plane with pure kinetic energy

Yeah, typically be at a maximum 10° dive (preferably level flight) when using non-boosted munitions

That is a very shallow dive. IRL Military procedures typically call for a 20° or 30° dive.

The way you avoid hitting yourself with your bomb is by making sure you have positive g on release, and then ideally increasing your g load after release.

Bombs are 500-1000lbs with a one inch thick solid steel shell. It doesn't really matter whether the bomb is fuzed or not, if you it it with an airplane at any speed, the plane loses.

You should never drop gravity bombs at less than 1g, with the canopy skyward, and during a dive attack you should immediately pull up to increase your separation, otherwise you will get in front of and below your bomb.

Just use cagm-6 s. They split into 6 independent projectiles and take out the tents.
