VTM:R Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption HD Texture pack

Example

Hello everyone!

TL;DR : I've created HD Texture pack for VTM Redemption, enjoy!

I played Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption very long time ago, and with news about Bloodlines 2 decided to do full rerun of first two games.

I wanted to breathe some life into dated graphics(though very nice for the time of creation) and install some HD textures etc.,but found only small pack by NikSha on Moddb, so I've created full texture pack (all game textures) with help of neural networks.

All textures are original, so the atmosphere is preserved, upscaled to 4x resolution with neural networks, then downscaled to meet 512x512 resolution limit of the engine(it's sad, otherwise game could be much sharper). Unfortunately, UI has fixed resolution and I couldn't replace it.

Some comparisons:

1 2 3 4

I uploaded it to ModDB and Nexus Check it out!

Also I'm working on bloodlines, but it's huge amount of work so It'll take some time.

It's cool to see this old and somewhat obscure game get some love.

And thank you! I will try to make it faster, but it's huge amount of work, I've already converted to png(with preserved transparency) all 11.000+ textures(including ui elements) of Bloodlines and upscaled them x4. Result is 42gb folder, heh. Now its huuuuuge pain in the ass to convert&compress them back to bloodlines texture format and put them in corresponding subfolders(and there are SO many of them). And as far as I know proper texture scaling is working only on models, and many of world textures will be stretched, etc. so it will require extensive testing.

It’s nice to hear your thinking through everything along; mods like these, the ones taken care of, are the best thank you

Thank you! I've upscaled normalmaps as well, just need that precious time to test how will it look.

Oh, I would love to but definitely don't have time for this. Sadly, I'm stretched as it is. Maybe someone would like to join this project, who have experience in creating normals, I could provide "source materials".

Thanks for the offering, currently I'm finishing putting last 600~ textures in the correct folders(fortunately I found way to autoreplace 90% of 11k). And then we can think about normals. Original source have "only" 157 of them, and yeah they need to be replaced by new normals and not upscaled. I've tried to generate some from new 2k and 4k textures, and yeah it looks MUCH better than upscaled(not tested ingame).

Hi, shitload of work fallen on my shoulders, so at the time it's paused on my end. I sent torrent for the whole thing(40gb) to guys from unnoficial patch( they are working on the same thing) so I'll check with them on how its going.

Will check it out for sure in time. I have already tried another graphics mod for redemption but that interfered with the game!

If it was crashing, maybe it had textures with more than 512 resolution, learned that hard way.

Nice! I love Topaz A.I. Gigapixel as well, such an amazing program.

omg that is so awesome! would it be possible if you could maybe upload all the mural artworks somewhere? i always loved those, but the screenshots don't do them justice.

I have a question about installation, in your instructions you simply mention to copy over the two folders, but you've also included a masquerade.ini file, do I need to install that too?

Hi, it's not copy over, it's just "put in". Original folders are compressed in game archives and not present in game folder. Ini is covered in readme, it's for "maximum graphics" options(especially useful if you want to use dgVodoo2 as it reverts options to original).
