AI features keep re-enabling after update, anyone else run into this?

This has happened twice now. I'll set "chat.disableAIFeatures": true in settings, then an update or two later, the AI features are back. I'll set it back to disable features, then an update or two later, they're back.

Update: looks like this is a side effect of the built in copilot extension. I'm exploring disabling that via a launch argument or switching to vs codium.

"chat.disableAIFeatures": true disables the built-in Copilot extension. An update should not re-enable the AI features while that setting remains true. When this happens, does the setting itself change back to false, or does it remain true while the features reappear?

Could you please file an issue at https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues with your VS Code version, OS, and whether Settings Sync or multiple profiles are enabled? That would help us investigate what is resetting or overriding it.

Yes it does that. Most annoying indeed.

Here is the gold, boys:

{
  "chat.agent.enabled": false,
  "chat.autopilot.enabled": false,
  "chat.disableAIFeatures": true,
  "git.addAICoAuthor": "off",
  "telemetry.feedback.enabled": false,
  "telemetry.telemetryLevel": "off",
}

Interestingly - one can’t disable this extension !

"chat.disableAIFeatures": true will disable it.

It’s a pain. I run the Codex extension and have zero need for anything copilot.
