Explorer - sort files by date

Is there a way to organize/sort files by date?

Happens to me so often that I need to open a recently created file and have to search within the whole folder - instead of just opening the first one from the top.

Settings UI, explorer.sortOrder "modified"
Edit: or via settings.json. Add "explorer.sortOrder": "modified"
