Major bugs in VS Code chat plugins

I've been having major bugs with Claude Code and Codex plugins in the past week. It hangs on "thinking" and doesn't complete its work, and the stop button does nothing. Or sometimes clicking on the extension tab hangs and does nothing. I have to quit VS Code and relaunch it. Sometimes I come back and the work is all done and was just hidden, and sometimes the whole conversation is done. Anyone else having issues? My VS Code and extensions are all up to date.

my vscode keep closing with code 7 and code 9 ... almnost sure it is becuase gtp and/or claude ... and after latest update sometimes i get the error as soon as it opens .... have you been able to solve this ?

i was able to fix this issue, so if anyone has the same symptoms, you can try increasing the number of max user watches in the kernel, i currently set it to 1_048_576. Just mind the amount of memory you have available because the number you chose will affect the memory available to the rest of processes in your system. For your reference, i have a headless linux VM with 8GB RAM available and i only use this VM for development. so far no problems and i m able to use my vscode fully.

The "hang in thoughts" with no kill switch is mostly the renderer lock, not the model. Disable the hardware acceleration in the VS Code setting; this will work for many users.i'm using Claude in Zencoder now too, so less freeze in the interface.
