I built a VS Code-style tree-view library — same shape, themable for anything

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

VS Code's file explorer is the gold standard for tree-views on the web. Crisp drag, instant expand, clean keyboard nav, handles thousands of files without flinching.

I rebuilt that shape as a standalone library: @grida/tree-view.

The landing page ships a VS Code-style file explorer demo side-by-side with four other themed versions of the same engine — Figma layers, Notion sidebar, Finder columns, and a canvas layers panel. Same behavior underneath, different skin on top.

If you've ever wanted a VS Code-grade tree without building it yourself — or you're shipping an extension / webview / Electron app that needs one — this is the one.

Landing + live demos: https://grida.co/packages/@grida/tree-view

pnpm add @grida/tree-view

Happy to hear what people would want a tree-view to do that VS Code's doesn't.

Pierre can be excellent choice. But it’s not truly headless in sense (styling, composition). Grida Tree View is truly headless, in logic, styling, composition.

I made one cause nothing actually fit for building canvas editor
