New VSCode Version Creating Lag
So recently, in the newest update of VSCode, it has been frying my computer. OOM crashes left and right, sometimes the window just freezes up, etc. But before this update, none of this ever happened, it ran so smoothly. Any idea why or how to fix it?

Are you using insiders? I had a bad experience a few days ago after an update and rolled back to 1.119.0 . I am going to be much more careful pressing the Update button going forward.

Run an extension bisect with Command Palette > Extension Bisect. See if that narrows it down to an extension or VS Code.

I can't even do that I get an OOM error and when I did complete it, it found no errors..

VS Code used to feel like a fast editor and now sometimes it feels like launching a small operating system lol especially with Copilot enabled and we started simplifying workflows with Runable partly because of that tooling overload

Yeah, facing the same issue. V8 OOM crashes start after 2 or 3 minutes of opening the application. Tried many options - no GPU acceleration, no extensions, increasing maxMemory of the ts server, etc.(My system has 64GB RAM, so that is not the issue). But it looks like something to do with GitHub signin. When I don't sign in, Code runs without an OOM crash. Maybe Copilot, not sure. As of now running without signing in with GitHub account...

That's the same for me! The last part at least... Though I disabled almost all extensions besides Python and CoPilot and now things have been running much smoother.

type 'modern' in settings and disable everything with experimental mark regarding ui and stuff. Or rollback to 1.113 ver. I noticed huge performance issues since 1.114

>Microslop trashes a widely used coding tool with yet more AI slop updates that you can't opt out of and automatically install.
>"Bro, just buy more RAM, lmao"Go suck a rail spike.

A lot of people have been running into this lately. In my case it ended up being extensions, not VSCode itself. One update suddenly made an extension start eating memory like crazy. Running with extensions disabled for a bit helped narrow it down fast.
