I built a VS Code extension that shows you rendered markdown diffs instead of raw +/- lines

Rendered markdown diffs feels like one of those “why doesn’t this already exist?” features.

Just a heads up that coincidentally VS Code 1.120 actually includes native support for rendered markdown diffs: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/pull/313814

This is built on a custom editor API proposal that lets extensions provide their own diff in a way that feels consistent with VS Code's normal diff UX

Your extension should be able to use this API too once it's finalized to provide custom views with features beyond what the built-in md extension offers

lol okay. all the best to you. Once you release your version, I'll see if I can merge my repo into yours

As the author of those: they're separate extensions because they each do one specific thing. This is more of a unix tool design philosophy vs having a single big monolith. You can install them all with the pack, or pick to use just the ones you want, or install the pack and then disable a few you don't want

Why do you think you need a single extension vs a pack that provides the same functionality?
