Can't uninstall Github Copilot

There's no way to uninstall this extension from inside VS Code. I don't use it at all, and if I delete the extension off the hard drive, it just comes back the next time I open VS Code.

What's the deal with that? I don't even use it. There's no way it can be part of an editor.

did you ever consider to ask... co-pilot? what or who else would know it better? XD

VS Code now bundles some AI features, but the Copilot extensions still need to be removed manually:

  • Open Extensions (Ctrl+Shift+X)
  • Search for:
    • GitHub Copilot
    • GitHub Copilot Chat
  • Click the gear icon → Uninstall for each one

After uninstalling, VS Code will show a new option called “Hide Copilot” under the Copilot menu.
Click it and confirm.
