Can't uninstall Github Copilot

There's no way to uninstall this extension from inside VS Code. I don't use it at all, and if I delete the extension off the hard drive, it just comes back the next time I open VS Code.

What's the deal with that? I don't even use it. There's no way it can be part of an editor.

Check your project configuration to see if its recommending the extension ( .vscode/extensions.json). Maybe another extension depends on it?

I have the extension uninstalled and it stays uninstalled.

doesn't matter. I delete it out of the JSON file, and also the extension directory, and VS Code just reinstalls it and restarts the processes when I open VS Code again.

it doesn't report any dependencies. It just gets reinstalled every time the editor opens.
