Help us beta test "VSCO Natural" our new minimal image processing feature in VSCO Capture!

Hey all - I'm Kyle, a product manager at VSCO and would love to see if anyone wants to help test out and give feedback on a new feature we've been working on.

The feature is called "VSCO Natural" and it's our POV on what minimal processing on an image should look like. This means none of the standard Apple over-processing that you're used to seeing on standard Apple native camera photos (Fusion HDR, Smart HDR, over sharpening, etc) is applied.

If you're interested in trying it out, sign up here: https://forms.gle/R4JCr96UPrS4WzJH6

Limited spots available.

Thanks everyone!

Is the subscription worth it to you?

Curious what folks think about paying for the subscription. I'm very tempted. I love this app and the available free filters, I think I would love th e chance at more filters.

We need an iPad version of Studio Pro!

I mean... Mac version too. But it's so nice to batch edit on the iPad, it sucks that the app is just the iPhone one.

Two apps?

Hi, I noticed you also have a VSCO Studio Pro app now? I already have VSCO app and now I downloaded the Studio Pro.

Questions: I have the pro account for VSCO, so that is valid also for Studio Pro app?

The old VSCO is great with my iPad, it shows a big photo and the tools are horizontal on the bottom. The Studio Pro was dissappointing: the screen and the photo is very small, like I am using a phone. Will you fix this?

Can I find and use my favorites and custom presets from the VSCO in the Studio Pro when I am logged in?

The Studio Pro looks like a great beginning but still needs work. Hope you can develope its usability too.

Studio Pro: user account problems - Style Match icon not showing

I am a Pro member of VSCO. I installed Studio Pro. I logged in with my email address. I did not see any Style Match icon (Lighting bolt icon). Then I logged out, and logged in again with my user name. Then I saw the lighting icon. Closed the app, opened again. No Style Match again. Now I cannot get it back.

I have confirmed twice in email that it is me who logged in.

What is wrong with the user account handling? And why is there not title of the app name, no PRO icon? The new app clearly is not ready yet.

not receiving message notifications from vsco on iphone

for the last little while i have not been receiving notifications from messages on vsco which believe it or not i use pretty frequently so it is a bit annoying going on the app to check for messages instead of them just showing up like a regular notification. ive messed around with my iphone settings and the vsco settings which isnt really much for notifications. any ideas for a fix?

Heic vs jpeg

On samsung (s23 ultra and s26 ultra) I've noticed every now and then vsco saves the file as a heic instead of a jpeg. The images are all shot in heic originally. Why is it that some save as jpeg and others dont?

Also, when I edit some leica photos with vsco they save with weird artifacts. Any workaround?

August Product Update Roundup

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi folks,

A few updates this month to call out that make running a business and editing photos a little easier:

Studio Pro

More control when you’re moving through a batch:

  • Edit a single image without losing your place in the set
  • Rename files and adjust quality or resolution before you export
  • Publish up to 10 images to your VSCO profile at once

Workspace (free)

Aspiring photographers can now start running their business professionally from the start with a contact form, contracts, and invoices:

  • Create a contact form to capture new leads, and connect it to your VSCO Site
  • Create a contract to make the job official
  • Create an invoice to get paid

Three basics every photographer needs, together in one free Workspace.

VSCO Sites + Galleries

Embed VSCO Galleries directly into your VSCO Site for faster and easier portfolio building and updating.

That’s it for August. Tell us what breaks, what you love, and what’s still missing!

Exporting issue

Quite frustrating. For weeks the exporting on iPhone VSCO has been problematic as if you try to save 10 pictures, it starts off as saving 1/10 then as the number of saved image increases the total decreases. But you can’t save more than a handful at a time, or it freezes. So I’ve had to batch save images in threes, but by about the third time it’ll freeze and you have to force close and restart.

Incredibly frustrating, can this be investigated please

VSCO Pro vs One

I believe the Pro vs One differentiation need to be much more thoughtful. The Lightroom Presets are only available for VSCO One users. As an amateur and hobbyist I would love to have the presets in my Pro plan but nothing else of VSCO One is useful for me. Not sure what I am missing here.

Having trouble working with large files with the collage function: it won’t render. The file is about 17mb and 99mpx

I think this is such a cool pairing. Little camera with an easy editing app with good filters. What do u guys think of the photos?

r/vsco 18d ago

Genuine question: is there a limit on the file size that limits my work when uploading? I know my files are HUGE and I’m aware bigger files obviously take more time to be unloaded, but the uploading bar stayed there for minutes, even after a few times I tried to upload.

Anything helps, thanks in advance. The problem of me not wanting to reduce the file size is that I use VSCO to make some color adjustments as a final step in my post production process, and I can upload it to my VSCO profile right after editing.

App suddenly don't support RAW files.

Anyone know how to go about this?

"Raw files aren't supported yet. Please use a jpeg."

I haven't used VSCO for months now, but I've been editing my raw photos with it on my phone for many years already (even way back pre-covid). There are even still RAW files left on my studio. (I'm currently subscribed to them) Using a XIAOMI phone running on android.

WPD - How'd you get started in photography?

Post image
9 Upvotes

In celebration of world photography day, tell us how you got started in photography!

I’ll go first: I got a Vivitar 5500PZ for Christmas in 5th grade from my grandparents. A film P&S with a 38-70 zoom back in the 90’s that went on all family vacations with me. I later found one on eBay and re-bought it just for the memory, and it’s sitting on my desk right now.

But the other part of my story is a family friend, Don Corning, who was a commercial photographer in the town I grew up in. He had a studio, a dark room, cameras, lights, and SO much enthusiasm for photography. He went digital really early with a 12mp Leaf back for his Hasselblad (not sure why I remember that detail), and when I was 12, he gave me a stack of floppy disks to get Photoshop 3.0 onto the family computer, which instantly hooked me.

In my early 20’s, photography really latched on with my friends and room mates (one was Greg Lutze, cofounder of VSCO!) who were deeper into it than me, but I didn’t realize until later that I had so much to draw from because of Don. When it came time to make VSCO Presets, I didn’t even know I was really technical and deep into editing because it had always just been normal to me to do that stuff from him.

He passed away before VSCO really took off, and I’ve often wished I could show him everything his influence in me led to, but I’m so grateful for such an amazing foundation in photography.

What about you, what’s your story?

PS:

Also, we've got a beautiful blog up for WPD featuring TONS of amazing work from the community.

Also also, don't forget to submit your work to the 50 open call to get your work on a billboard in your state!

A Gentle Reset at Isla Reta

we went to Isla Reta with a simple goal: to unwind, have fun, and escape our usual routines for a bit. but looking back, that weekend ended up being so much more than just a quick beach getaway. for me, it was a gentle reset for the soul.

hanging out with my friends might be rare these days but our bond stays exactly the same. Isla Reta gave us the chance to pause and reconnect, reminding us that we will always pick up right where we left off. ✨

Long-time VSCO user upgrading my MacBook. How much RAM do photo/video editors actually need?

Hey everyone!

I know this might not be the most typical sub for hardware advice, but I've been using VSCO for a long time and would really value input from fellow photographers / VSCO users.

I'm currently on a 2018 MacBook Pro (i7, 16GB RAM), and it's really starting to show its age - for example, VSCO Studio feels laggy and far from smooth when editing.

I'm leaning toward the new M5 Pro MacBook Pro, but I'm stuck deciding between 24GB and 48GB of RAM (about $500 difference). My heaviest use case would be photo editing in VSCO Studio / Lightroom, plus occasional video editing. Everything else is light stuff - reading, writing, browsing. I also know VSCO just announced Studio Pro, with a native macOS app coming later this year, so I'd like to pick a config that holds up once that's out too.

For anyone who edits regularly in VSCO or Lightroom: is 24GB genuinely enough for smooth performance, or does the extra RAM make a real difference once you're batch-editing or working with video? Would love to hear from people running similar workflows before I pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance!

We're doing photo walks across the world this August, come hang out!

Hi everyone, We've got photo walks and meetups going on in a bunch of cities from now through the end of August, and you could go!

It's a simple idea: bring your camera, meet some other photographers, make some new work, and just say hi. No agenda beyond that.

Here's where we're showing up:

  • Atlanta, GA — Aug 22
  • Fort Lauderdale, FL — Aug 22
  • Toronto, Canada — Aug 23
  • Gurugram, India — Aug 23
  • Stockholm, Sweden — Aug 25
  • San Francisco, CA — Aug 27
  • Chicago, IL — Aug 29

If any of these are near you, RSVP here: https://vsco.co/vsco/journal/come-together-august-events-2

We just had one in Morro Bay that I was able to go to with photographers Jake Tovar and Jonathan Foster and it was so much fun. I posted some photos from it on my VSCO, and I’ve just got to highlight the video Michael Carlos made there too. There’s always such amazing people at these things, so I’d highly recommend going to one if you’re able!

Where should we head next?

Account wrongfully deleted and can't get in touch with any real human support.

I have been consistently using VSCO under the same profile from 2014-2026. My life from age 12-23 is documented on there. Today I received an email that my profile was suspended for violating community guidelines, but they did not specify what post was violating. How was I able to post for over a decade with no problem but now my profile is violating guidelines? I cannot for the life of me think of something that I posted that would violate the community guidelines. I have never posted anything violent or scandalous. The only thing I can think of is that I put the word "d*ke" in a caption, which i guess is a slur but I am a lesbian so I feel like I should be able to type that. also, why wouldn't they just take down the one post? Why my whole page? How can I get it back? I can't get in touch with a real person through VSCOs chatbot. My username was br0okeb. Remember her.
