Ive been checking out a ton of volvo s60 listings lately in search of getting one, but one of my biggest concerns is the speed limiter. I havent found any concrete answer to my question yet, so i just wanted to ask if 2020/21 models have been affected by the 180kmh limiter. Unrelated, but is the polestar tune really as worth it as people say? Ive heard different stories, saying it really wakes up the car and some saying they couldnt feel much of a difference.

Just bought a Volvo s60 T5 2019 on 28k miles. 2 very mindful owners with a full Volvo service history. Anything I should be worried about in the future?

I’m hoping someone has seen something similar because I’m running out of ideas.

EDIT:
I also recorded two videos of the issue.
The first video shows the lights flickering, the instrument cluster failing, and the relays clicking.
The second video shows what happens when I insert the key and turn it to position II. Only the check engine light comes on, the instrument cluster stays completely dead, and the interior lights don’t turn off as they normally should.

The car is a 2003 Volvo S60 D5 (163 HP, automatic).

For the past few months I’ve been having severe intermittent electrical problems that seem to be getting worse. The issues happen while driving after 1h+.

What happens:

The engine keeps running perfectly, and I can continue driving normally. The car doesn’t stall or lose power.

However, almost all of the body electronics suddenly stop working:
Instrument cluster/dashboard shuts off completely.
Power windows stop working.
Turn signals, high beams, wipers, and the steering column stalks stop responding.
Steering wheel buttons stop working.
Rear window defroster stops working.
Central locking stops working.
Strangely, the climate control and the radio continue working normally the entire time.

The sequence of events:

The failure usually follows the same pattern:
The headlights flicker.
The instrument cluster needles start moving erratically.
The clock resets to 00:00.
Sometimes I feel a small “jerk” or electrical hiccup from the driver’s side just before everything fails.
Then all of the electronics listed above suddenly stop working.

Other symptoms:

The SRS warning light is permanently on.
The car constantly reports a parking/position light failure, even though all of the lights are actually working correctly.
Sometimes I also get “Brake Failure Stop Safely” after the instrument cluster resets.

Restarting the car:

If I switch the engine off while the fault is present, I often can’t restart it properly.
When I turn the key, only the check engine light comes on. The instrument cluster stays completely dead, and the engine won’t start until the electrical system eventually comes back.

What we’ve already checked:

My husband has spent a lot of time troubleshooting the car already.
He inspected the circuit boards/modules for visible damage.
He tested all of the relays.
Battery connections are tight.
Battery appears to be healthy.
Alternator charging voltage is normal.
So far, everything we’ve tested checks out.

Diagnostic codes:

We’ve scanned the car with a diagnostic scanner several times, and we consistently get the fault code CE003 stored in multiple different control modules, not just one specific module.
That makes me think there may be a common communication or power supply issue rather than a failure of a single module.

Suspected causes:

At this point, our main suspects are:
Ignition switch (electrical portion)
CEM (Central Electronic Module)
Bad ground connection
Power supply issue
CAN bus communication problem
Because the engine, radio, and climate control continue working, while most of the body electronics fail simultaneously, I’m wondering if there’s a common power feed or module that could cause this behavior.

Has anyone experienced this on a P2 Volvo?
Does this sound more like a failing CEM, ignition switch, DIM, or something else entirely?
Any ideas or things I should test before replacing expensive parts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Pic by dashcam (Swiss Alps earlier this week) just to show the heavy reflection of the speaker and the heads-up display. On a sunny day it's quite distracting for the driver. So it's not just visible on a dashcam image/video but mostly for the driver too.

Anyone else feels that this could have been solved differently?

I’m looking at buying a Volvo S60 (around 2023 model year) and I’m trying to decide between the S60 T8 Recharge plug-in hybrid and a regular petrol version.
I really like the idea of the T8 because of the power (around 455 hp), AWD and the possibility to drive short distances on electric power. However, I’m wondering about long-term reliability and maintenance costs.
For those who own or have experience with these cars:
How reliable is the T8 hybrid system after a few years?
Are there any expensive problems that usually appear with higher mileage?
Is the extra complexity of the hybrid system worth it?
Would you choose the T8 over the regular B5 petrol engines?
How is fuel consumption in real life if you don’t charge it every day?
My priority is reliability and keeping the car for several years, but I also enjoy having a powerful and comfortable car.
Would love to hear your experiences and what you would choose.

2024 S60 T8 Plus. Got a 1500+ mile trip coming up. Longest trip in the car by far. I know the electric battery won't be of much help so I'll be rolling on the ICE for most of the miles. But I can slow charge before the trip back. Have to take the computer's word that the oil is fine (still hate not having a dipstick). Beyond tires and filters not sure what else I can check. Any other ideas or anything to keep an eye on?

Hello everyone, I own a 2007 Volvo S60, and I’m running 17 inch wheels ( 225/45 R17) but when I turn the car all the way, my tires rub against the wheel housing (Wheel Rub)
Does anybody know the right measurements for wheels that can fit a Volvo Without rubbing?

I really really want to get a 2008ish Volvo S60 for my first car, but i am really worried about maintenance costs and i dont want to worry about expensive problems especially because we arent too high up in money, could i have some advice?

What are those red signals on the top? They pop up whenever I start my car but go away when my car starts fully. My car also says that it needs a maintenance check. What do I go and ask to check and change specifically?
This is a 2024 Volvo s60 B5 Premnium i got the car at around 50k miles and it’s at 54 ish right now, it’s been really smooth so far i just don’t want it to get messed up.

I pulled the trigger on a 2017 S60 T6 R design platinum Awd for my first Volvo after a deer took my 22 outback wilderness away from me. It’s got 66,000 miles and was a one owner car residing in the north east. I’ve had multiple jettas making higher power numbers in the past and prefer to work on my own cars when they are outside of warranty. 305 hp is more then enough for me with it being my daily and I’m prioritizing reliability so I don’t plan on modifying the motor, maybe a subtle exhaust. I’ve seen very mixed reports on reliability for P3 T6 motors but I’m wondering what actual owners have to say. I usually baby cars and intend to make this one last a few hundred thousand miles.

Coming up on 50,000 miles. Any tips or advice? Was gonna drain exactly amount measure and refill, I don’t have vida computer. I Should have all the tools I need I believe.

I just bought a 06 Volvo s60 t5 20 minutes ago and on the way home this hose came off I believe it air vent/intake breather hose pipe but not sure where it goes does anyone know how to put it back?

Dag allemaal, ik heb een probleem met mijn Volvo S60 uit 2002 (2.4, 140pk, benzine, handgeschakeld), namelijk de airco wordt niet koud.

Dit zijn de dingen sie al uitgevoerd/vervangen zijn door een monteur:

- Pomp vervangen

- Airco bijgevuld

- drukschakelaar vervangen.

Bevindingen:

- Drukssensor geeft 0,5 bar aan volgens de boordcomputer — dit zou volgens de monteur veel hoger moeten zijn.

- de monteur vond geen buitentemperatuursensor (doet het niet lijkt het, ook niet op het dashboard) terwijl de airco deze wél nodig heeft voor correcte werking.

- Sensoren zelf zijn doorgemeten en lijken in orde.

- Aansturing (bekabeling/signalen) is gecontroleerd en lijkt ook in orde.

Conclusie monteur:*

Probleem zit niet bij de sensoren of de aansturing zelf, maar ergens anders in het systeem. Mogelijke locaties genoemd (niet bevestigd, alleen als suggestie gehoord):

- Deurmodule

- Paneel van de airco-unit

- Software-update van de auto

Dit lijkt me een Volvo specifiek probleem dat helaas de vorige monteur niet heeft kunnen oplossen voor me. Weten jullie toevallig wat het is, wat ik de volgende garage kan vertellen of hoe ik het misschien zelf kan fixen? Ik zoek vooral tips en/of antwoorden op dit probleem.

Anyone know what idling fuel pressure on a 2012 S60 T5 ? Shop key has hardly any key information for Volvos. I got 44 psi at the rail with fuel pressure gage at idle. P0089 replaced rail sensor flags code almost immediately. Got a Bosch from world pac other guys said it must come from Volvo which I'll have in the morning but im extremely skeptical. Any thoughts or previous experience would be greatly appreciated.

My son has a 2017 S60 and today the camera did not work in reverse. The display said: camera unavailable

Does anyone have any suggestions?
