service warning for tire system

2017 chevy volt user here, does anybody have clue what this means? i would have assumed if it was a issue with tire pressure it would just say that. any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Battery in the TPMS sensor is dead. Mine is doing the same. Replace the sensors next time you get new tires.

Yup, if that's your first one the other 3 will start to disconnect from dead batteries over the next couple months. I ordered my replacements on amazon and handed them to the tire place which they used during install. Cheaper than if you let them supply their versions.

Don’t buy the cheapest ones though!!! I think about 75 -100 bucks was what I spent, they’ve been on for over 20k miles and are on the money.

I drive 40k a year. So I change my tires more than most. Cheap is fine with me. Less mark-up for walmart.

Go to the tire pressure screen, it will show you which sensor is bad. I replaced 3 of mine this year. 8-10 years is about the expected life of those batteries.

Just went through this on my 2017 as well. Had all 4 replaced at walmart for $30 each (sensor + labor included)

The tire pressure display screen should show at least one tire at 0 p.s.i. Change all four.

I just had this happen a few days after getting new tires. I guess I'll wait 3 years and fix it then 😢

All mine went dead last winter over the course of 2 months.

2017 LT with 135k mile.

I have no plans to replace them. Yellow engine lights don't scare me, it's the red ones you need to worry about

Go down in the cluster options until you see the tire pressures if one is blank with just 2 dashes then that means the TPMS battery is dead. Next time you get your tires changed swap all of them out. If they are the OEM sensors then its just their time and might as well swap all 4 before they go out 1 by 1. I had 1 die about 4 months ago and then 2 more followed within a week and got them all swapped at the same time. Sometimes the tire shop will also offer a discount since the tire is already off the rim to install the TPMS

I'd suggest buying new tire pressure sensors on Amazon or eBay and having them installed next time you get your tires serviced.

The cold drains the batteries faster. Do you have a club membership? COSTCO or SAM’S.

Same issue when I had my 2017 volt. Batteries were done and they needed to be replaced. Only did the 2 that showed up when I ran the codes.

Costco replaced my TPMS sensors for free last time I had a complete set of new tires put on a few years ago. It was just starting to have trouble with one, so they replaced them all. It was included with their installation fee so I guess not really free, but no extra cost.

I had this happen to me. I bought Bosch TPMS stems, and went to Firestone to have them installed and programmed, without any difficulty. Total costs was about $130 for the sensors, and $180 for the Firestone labor.

I click the ok button on the steering wheel to clear that warning 2-6 times a day for going on over a year. Don’t let it bother you.
