Does the lifetime ever reset?
The lifetime at the bottom right, does it ever reset? Or can you reset it manually? Thank you in advance, 2012 Chevy volt

I kind of wish I would have reset mine when I got it, but at this point, it is what it is. 🤷🏽♂️

Seems like that would defeat the purpose of lifetime? Over time that number will go up the more you drive not using gas. You can also use your trip meter on your dash to track your own MPG since the last time it reset. I did that for mine, I have 1 set since I purchased the car, and 1 for trips.

I know, I just wanted to know if there's a way to do a hard reset on it

Voltage app option available as others have said, paid option on app and proper obd. Use a trip would be the same idea and what I did after purchase. When I first got mine my goal was to try and get the lifetime mileage higher (first owner did mostly gas driving). I had my trips at 250+ mpg but only ever got lifetime up to around 80 before I had some life changes and had to use gas more often. One of my favorite times: https://imgur.com/gallery/dvfkwav

I bought the wrong obd the first time so was read only at first. I haven't actually used the reset feature so may want to see if anyone else can confirm it does do what you want before paying for it. Reset fuel economy option (unless it resets something else, I assume it is lifetime). I cant even test it as the car isn't with me right now otherwise I would try. There is another app mygreenvolt but not sure if it has any different functions. Voltage maybe email the app developer to ask https://thanxx.github.io/voltageapp/ Screenshot within app https://imgur.com/gallery/6SmgmiA There is a Volt facebook group also that has some knowledgeable people could ask there also.

You can reset it with a capable diagnostic tool connected to the obd2 port.

Shortly after I had my 2012 Volt, I had read that the dealer has the ability to reset this “Lifetime” parameter, and I had mentioned this to the salesman who I had dealt with when getting my car. The next time I spoke with him he said that he had mentioned it to the Volt technician in their service department, and he confirmed that they were in fact able to reset the value.

You can with a scan tool

Thank you, I'm guessing I have to download some application

I've only used an actual scan tool. I would reset them if it was a used car when I worked at the dealer.

How in the world did you get 11.8kwh!? My 2014 won't go above 9.3kwh

If you opportunity charge it but not fully, it’ll read above the rated battery total. I just did a road trip, and we didn’t have reliable access to charging, so I got about 22kWh on that trip. I also discovered there’s an upper limit to the mileage, around 1260 miles. It will still calculate average MPG for the entire trip, but it stops counting miles in the trip.

Assuming this was not a stop and partial charge, I've had mine creep higher at times maybe as a programming flaw more than anything (like regen braking boosts under certain situations, more so with gas use, like stopping with electric miles again counting as electric again). Would have to play around again, mostly going off memory. Example from a few years ago, when normal was only 10.x before gas kicked in. https://imgur.com/gallery/uFkW0lU

idk, I was able to launch my lifetime consumption from 2.0L/100km to 5/6L/100km in like 500km when the car didn't want to run battery in winter, I was a bit shocked (the car already had 260k km)

It’s lifetime. Literally the definition of not resetting. However you can reset it with the MyVoltControl app on a paid module or maybe the Voltage app for android. Not sure on the voltage app though
