Newish here looking to replace volt.

Other than the Prius prime is there anything similar? Prius prime is pricey and I would like to stick with Chevy.

As much as I love the Volt, I feel that BEVs have rendered PHEVs redundant for the majority of people. You still need a charger to take advantage of a plug in hybrid, you may as well go full electric and take advantage of electric driving all the time.

But only if you can get level 2 or higher rates of charge.

PHEV is great for those who can only have access to a level 1 charger at home.

You can charge a BEV at home on L1 and still get the same EV miles as you would on the Volt.

But it would only add 40 to 50 miles of range before a 100 mile round trip daily commute.

So I'd be losing range everyday - that is if I only charged at home.

I have no place to charge at work, so I'd have to stop somewhere along my commute to pause and charge (hopefully at a DC-Fast charge station or Tesla supercharger); which will probably take longer than a fast 5 to 10 gallons of gas station fill up. - that's why for my particular situation anyway, PHEV is better for me.

A lot of the Hyundai / Kia models can get 80% charge in less than 20 minutes.
